"DAWN"  INFANT'S WOOL, Article W 5 
White or Baby Colors.
    Entire Set: 6-1 oz. Balls and 1 Skein "STAR"  Six Strand Mercerized Embroidery Cotton.
    Jacket: 4-1 oz. Balls.
    Bonnet: 1-1 oz. Ball. 
    Booties & Mittens: 1-1 oz. Ball.
  2 small buttons, 2  yds. 1 inch ribbon and 2 yds. ½ inch ribbon for entire set.
  Bone Crochet Hook No.  2 or No. 3.
JACKET
Starting at neck, ch  61 and work 60 s c on ch, ch 1 to turn all s c rows.
    2nd Row. 1 s c in each of the first 11 s c, (front)  ch 1, puff st in next st (puff st: yarn over, insert needle in st, pull loop  through, yarn over, insert needle in same st, pull loop through, yarn over and  pull through all loops but one on needle, yarn over and pull through remaining  loops) ch 1, 1 s c in each of the next 6 s c, (shoulder) ch 1, puff st in next  s c, ch 1, 1 s c in each of the next 22 s c, (back), ch 1, puff st in next s c,  ch 1, 1 s c in each of the next 6 s c, (shoulder) ch 1, puff st in next s c, ch  1, 1 s c in each of the last 11 s c (front), turn. 
    3rd Row. 1 s c in each s c of front, 1 s c over the  ch 1 of previous row, ch 1, puff st in puff st, ch 1, 1 s c over the ch 1, 1 s  c in each s c of shoulder, 1 s c over the ch 1, ch 1, puff st in puff st, ch 1,  1 s c over the ch 1, 1 s c in each s c of back, 1 s c over the ch 1, ch 1, puff  st in puff st, ch 1, 1 s c over the ch 1, 1 s c in each s c of shoulder, 1 s c  over the ch 1, ch 1, puff st in puff st, ch 1, 1 s c over the ch 1, 1 s c in  each s c of front. Work 14 more rows same as 3rd row.
    18th Row. Start pattern, 1 s c in first s c, * puff st  in next s c, 1 s c in next s c, repeat from * across front, then work 1 s c  over the ch 1, 1 puff st, 1 s c, 1 puff st in next puff st, ch 1, skip the 36 s  c of shoulder, 1 puff st, ch 1, 1 puff st in next puff st, 1 s c over the ch 1,  * 1 puff st in next s c, 1 s c in next s c, repeat from * across back, then  work 1 s c over the ch 1, 1 puff st, 1 s c, 1 puff st in puff st, ch 1, skip  the 36 s c of shoulder, 1 puff st, 1 s c, 1 puff st in next puff st, 1 s c  over the ch 1, continue in pattern across front (ch 1 to turn all rows starting  with an s c, ch 3 to turn all rows starting with a puff st).
    19th Row. Work in pattern, working a puff st in each s  c and an s c in each puff st and a puff st over the ch 1 at underarm.
  Work 19 more rows of  pattern, then work 1 row of s c across lower edge, working 1 s c in each s c  and each puff st. Work 2 more rows of s c even, break yarn. 
SLEEVE: Attach yarn at underarm, 1 s c over the side of puff st, 1 s c over the ch 1, 1 s c in each of the 36 s c of shoulder, 1 s c over the ch 1, 1 s c over the side of puff st, join to the first s c with a slip st, ch 1, turn (40 s c). Work 29 more rows of s c over the 40 s c, joining each row and turning each row. Finish sleeve with 1 row of pattern. Work other sleeve in the same manner.
NECK BAND: Attach yarn in front of neck edge, 1 s c in each of the first 11 sts, * skip the next st of shoulder, 1 s c in next st, repeat from * 3 times, work in s c across back decreasing 3 times (about every 6th st) decrease 4 times over shoulder, then work 1 s c in each s c of front, ch 1, turn. Work 2 more rows of s c even, then work 1 row of s c down front, working 1 s c in each row, ch 1, turn, 1 s c in each s c. On right front work 2 buttonholes at lower edge of yoke, (buttonhole: ch 2, skip 1 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 3 s c, ch 2, skip 1 s c) s c in each s c to neck edge, break yarn. Work 2 rows of s c on left front in same manner omitting the buttonholes, break yarn. With right side of work toward you, attach yarn in center of back and work 1 row of s c all around the jacket, working 1 s c in each s c with 2 s c in each corner and 1 s c over the ch 2 of buttonholes, join, break yarn. Sew buttons in position, turn front back to form lapels and embroider as illustrated.
BONNET
Starting at turnback,  ch 61 (about 11½ inches) work 60 s c on ch, ch 1 to turn each row. Work 5 more  rows of s c even.
    7th Row. 1 s c in each of the first 4 s c, insert  needle in next s c, pull loop through, insert needle in next s c, pull loop  through and pull through both loops on needle, (thus decreasing 1 s c) * 1 s c  in each of the next 8 s c, decrease 1 st, repeat from * 4 times, then work 1 s  c in each of the last 4 s c, work 3 more rows of s c even. 
    11th Row. Work in puff st pattern same as jacket. Work  15 more rows of pattern even, break yarn. 
  Attach yarn in 10th  pattern from side and work in pattern over the 9 center patterns. Work 12 more  rows over the 9 patterns for back of bonnet, break yarn. Sew side seams. Attach  yarn in first puff st row and work 27 s c across back of bonnet, work 9 s c in  each side section and 9 s c in back section, ch 1, turn, work 1 s c in each of  the 27 s c, work 2 more rows of s c decreasing 1 s c at the beginning of each  row.
Finish by working 1 row of s c all around front of bonnet, working 1 s c in each row, 1 s c in each st and 2 s c in each corner of turnback, join, break yarn. Turn front back and embroider as illustrated. Attach ribbon for ties.
PUFF STITCH BOOTIES
Ch 15, 3 s c in 2nd st  from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 12 sts, 3 s c in next st, working on  opposite side of ch, 1 s c in each of the 12 sts, (do not join rounds). 
    2nd Round. 2 s c in each of the next 3 s c, 1 s c in  each of the next 12 s c, 2 s c in each of the next 3 s c, 1 s c in each of the  next 12 sc.
    3rd Round. 2 s c in each of the next 6 s c, (toe) 1 s c  in each of the next 12 s c, 2 s c in each of the next 6 s c, (heel) 1 s c in  each of the next 14 s c.
    4th Round. 2 s c in each of the next 9 s c, 1 s c in  each remaining s c.
    5th Round. 1 s c in each s c, join.
    6th Round. Working in back loop of st only, 1 s c in  each s c.
    7th Round. Work in both loops of st. Count off the 18  toe sts, start decreasing, yarn over needle, insert in first of the 18 toe sts,  pull loop through, insert needle in next st, pull loop through, yarn over and  pull through all loops but one on needle, yarn over and pull through remaining  loops on needle, (puff st) 1 s c in each of the 14 toe sts, decrease with a  puff st in the next 2 toe sts, 1 s c in each remaining s c all around.
    8th Round. Yarn over, insert needle in puff st, pull  loop through, insert needle in next s c, pull loop through, yarn over and pull  through all loops but one on needle, yarn over and pull through remaining  loops, 1 s c in each of the next 12 toe sts, decrease with a puff st in the  next s c and puff st, 1 s c in each remaining s c. 
    9th to 14th Rounds. Continue work decreasing at the toe in  same manner having 2 less s c between decreases in each round.
    15th Round. Work 1 puff st over the 2 puff sts, then  continue in s c all around.
    16th, 17th & 18th Rounds. Work even, working a  puff st over puff st in each round, join the last round. 
BEADING: Ch 3, skip 1 st, s c in next st, * ch 2,  skip 1 st, s c in next st, repeat from * all around, join. 
    19th Round. Work 2 s c over each ch 2, finish bootie  with 3 rows of pattern same as jacket. Make another bootie in same manner. Draw  ribbon through beading and embroider toe as illustrated.
MITTENS: Ch 30, join being careful not to twist ch. 
    1st Round. Ch 1, 1 s c in each st of ch, (30 s c) do  not join rounds.
  Work 5 more rounds of  s c even.
  7th Round. * 1 s c in each of the next 13 s c, insert  needle in next s c, pull loop through, insert needle in next s c, pull loop  through and pull through both loops on needle (thus decreasing 1 s c). Repeat  from * once, then work 1 round even.
  9th Round. * 1 s c in each of the next 12 s c, decrease  1 st, repeat from * once, work 1 round even.
  11th Round. * 1 s c in each of the next 11 s c, decrease  1 st, repeat from * once, work 1 round even.
  13th Round. * 1 s c in each of the next 10 s c, decrease  1 st, repeat from * once, work 1 round even.
  15th Round. * 1 s c in each of the next 9 s c, decrease 1  st, repeat from * once, work 1 round even, (20 s c).
  17th & 18th Rounds. Decrease 4 times in each round, break  yarn, leaving an end long enough to draw together, thread a needle and sew on  wrong side.
BEADING: Work same as on booties, then work 4 rounds 
  of puff st, break yarn  and work another mitten in same manner.
  Draw ribbon through  beading and embroider as illustrated.
