MATERIALS—DAISY Mercerized Crochet Cotton size 20:—42-balls (250-yds. each) or 26-sks. (400-yds. each).
Crochet hook No. 12.
Size—62 x 85 inches.

BLOCK—(Size—7¾" cornerwise)—Bar—Starting at center, ch 15, dc in 9th ch from hook, (ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch) twice. * Ch 5, turn, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * once. Edge—Ch 3, turn, 4 dc in last dc, * (2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next st) twice, 2 dc in corner lp, ** 5 dc in 1 lp of center ch of same lp. Repeat from * twice and from * to **. Join with sl st in top of ch-3. Use the right side of this row as right side of Bar. End—ROW 1—Ch 4, turn, * sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, (ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc) twice, ch 2, sk 1 dc, (dc, ch 5, dc) in next (corner) dc, ch 2, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc and holding back the last lp of each st on hook, make dc in next dc, sk 2 dc, tr in next dc, thread over and draw thru all 3 lps on hook (decrease-Cluster made). ROW 2—Ch 3, turn, (2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next dc) 3 times, 2 dc in corner lp, 5 dc in 1 lp of center st of same lp, (2 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in dc) 4 times. ROW 3—Ch 1, turn, sk last dc, sl st in next 3 dc, ch 4 and repeat from * in Row 1 thru Row 8. Cut 6" long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back. Turn wrong-side-up, sk 3 dc on Square from end of Row 1, sl st in next dc, ch 4 and repeat from * in Row 1 thru Row 8. Cut 8" long and use to sew Bars tog. Make 4 Bars and sew tog. into a hollow square, working on right side and going thru back lps of 15 dc across half of Row 8 on each end of Bars.

Center—Ch 6, join with sl st to form ring. Ch 6, dc in ring, (ch 3, dc in ring) 6 times, working over starting end. Ch 3, join with sl st to 3d st of ch-6. ROW 2—* Ch 2, 2 dc and 2 tr in next ch-3 sp, tr in dc, 2 tr and 2 dc in next sp, ch 2, sc in next dc. Repeat from * 3 times. ROW 3—* Ch 9 and working behind petals, sc in back lp of sc between next 2 petals. Repeat from * 3 times. ROW 4—Sl st to 5th ch of next lp, ch 5, (2 tr, ch 3, 3 tr) in same st, * ch 4, dc in sc between lps, ch 4, (3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr) in 5th ch of next lp. Repeat from * around. Join to top of ch-5. Join. ROW 7—Sl st in next 3 tr, ch 5, tr in next 5 tr, * (2 tr, ch 5, 2 tr) in next sp, tr in next 6 tr, ch 6, sk 2 tr, sc in next tr, ch 6, dc in next dc, ch 6, sc in next tr, ch 6, sk 2 tr, tr in next 6 tr. Repeat from * around. Join. ROW 8—Sl st in next 3 tr, ch 5, tr in next 4 tr, * (2 tr, ch 5, 2 tr) in next sp, tr in next 5 tr, ch 6, sc in right end of next ch-6 lp, (ch 6, dc in next lp) twice, ch 6, sc in left end of next lp, ch 6, sk 3 tr, tr in next 5 tr. Repeat from * around. Join. ROW 9—Sl st in next 4 tr, ch 5, tr in next 2 tr, * (4 dtr, ch 7, 4 dtr) in next sp, tr in next 3 tr, ch 6, dc in right end of next ch-6 lp, (ch 6, dc in next lp) 3 times, ch 6, dc in left end of next lp, ch 6, sk 4 tr, tr in next 3 tr. Repeat from * to *. Sc in next 6 sts, a joining-p in next dc-row. Repeat from ** around. Join. Fasten off.

Make a 2d Block and sew to 1st Block cornerwise across one corner angle. Repeat thru 8 Blocks (1st row). Make and join 2 Bars and sew to 2 Blocks in 1st row. Repeat across row and fill in Centers to make 2d row of 7 Blocks. Continue, alternating rows of 8 and 7 Blocks thru 11th row of 8 Blocks.

Stretch and pin cloth right-side-down on curtain or quilting frames. Lay frames over an ironing board or padded table a section at a time, steaming and pressing dry each section thru a cloth until completely blocked.
