COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. COTTON RUG YARN, Art. C.204: 12 balls of No. 100 Flamingo.
Clark's O.N.T. Plastic Crochet Hook No. 9.

GAUGE: 3 sts make 1 inch; 3 rows make 1 inch.

Mat measures 24 x 36 inches.

   Starting at short side, make a chain 24 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 20 inches, having an uneven num­ber of sc. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: (Right side of work) Sc in first sc, * tr in next sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in each sc and each tr across. Ch 4, turn. 4th row: Skip first sc, * sc in next sc, tr in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 5th row: Sc in each tr and in each sc across, sc in top of turning chain. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd to 5th rows incl until piece measures 32 inches. Break off.

BORDER … 1st rnd: With right side facing, attach yarn to any corner, 3 sc in same corner, sc closely around, making 3 sc in each corner. Join. 2nd rnd: Sc in each sc, making 3 sc in center sc at each corner. Join. Repeat 2nd rnd until Border measures 2 inches. Break off at end of last rnd.
