Fez Bag

This Fez and Bag can be made with:
“GEM” HAT and BAG YARN, Article 144.
2 skeins Dk. Green or color desired for hat.
4 skeins Dk. Green for bag.
1 skein White or contrasting color for hat and bag.
Aluminum crochet hook Size F.

BAG

Bottom. With Green ch 21 (about 6 inches), s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.

2nd Row. 1 s c in each s c, ch 1, turn. Repeat last row 20 times.

Next Row. * 3 s c in next st, 1 s c in each of the next 18 sts, 3 s c in next st, working on next side of work, work 18 s c across side, repeat from * once, join in 1st s c, ch 1, turn.

Next Row. Work over entire st, by inserting hook from front to back and to front again, work 1 s c over each s c, join, turn.

Next Row. Ch 1 and work 1 s c in each s c, join.

Next Row. Same as 4th round of side of crown, do not join this or following rounds.

Next Round. With Green work 1 s c in each st.

Next 26 Rounds. 1 s c in each s c, sl st in next 2 sts at end of last round to even rounds.

Next Round. Beading: Ch 5, skip 1 st, tr c in next st, * ch 1, skip 1 st, tr c in next st, repeat from * all around ending with ch 1, join in 4th st of ch 5.

Next Round. Ch 1, s c in same space, then work 1 s c in each mesh and in each tr c, do not join this or following rounds.

Next 4 Rounds. 1 s c in each s c.

Next Round. SI st in each st, cut yarn.

Drawstring. With Green work a chain about 30 inches long, sl st in 2nd st from hook, 1 sl st in each remaining st of ch, cut yarn. Work another drawstring in same manner. Lace drawstring through beading, lacing over 1 tr c and under next tr c, starting each drawstring on opposite side. Make a cardboard or buckram box to fit bottom of bag having the sides about 4 ½ inches in height.
