Pill Box Ribbon Bag

These Hats and Bag can be made with:
“GEM” HAT and BAG YARN, Article 144.
2 skeins Turquoise or color desired.
2 yds. 1 inch grosgrain ribbon for either hat.
4 skeins Turquoise or color desired.
1 yd. 1 inch grosgrain ribbon for bag.
Aluminum crochet hook size G.

BAG

Ch 5, join to form a ring, ch 1 and work 8 s c in ring, do not join this or following rounds. Place a marker at the beginning of each round.

2nd Round. 2 s c in each s c.

3rd Round. * 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around.

4th Round. * 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around.

5th Round. Working in s c, increase in every 4th s c.

6th Round. Increase in every 5th s c.

7th Round. Increase in every 6th s c. Work 1 round even. 9th Round. Increase in every 7th s c. Work 1 round even. 11th Round. Increase in every 8th s c. Work 1 round even, sl st in next 2 sts to even rounds (72 s c), ch 1, turn. 13th Round. Working over entire st, by inserting hook from front to back and to front again, work 1 s c over each s c, join, turn.

14th, 15th, 16th and 17th Rounds. Same as 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th rounds of hat with brim.

18th Round. Same as 6th round of hat with brim.

Next Round. Work 1 s c in each st, do not join this or following rounds.

Next 22 Rounds. Same as last round, sl st in next 2 sts after last round has been completed to even rounds.

Next Round: Beading. Ch 6, skip 2 s c, tr c in next s c.

* ch 2, skip 2 s c, tr c in next s c, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join in 4th st of ch.

Next Round. Same as 5th round of hat with brim.

Next 3 Rounds. Work 1 s c in each s c, join last round. Next Round. Same as 6th round of hat with brim.

Next Round. Sl st in each st, cut yarn.

DRAW STRING: Work a chain about 30 inches long, sl st in 2nd st from hook, 1 sl st in each remaining st of ch, cut yarn. Work another string in same manner. Lace through beading lacing over 1 tr c and under next tr c. Lace other string starting at opposite side. Knot ends together. Lace ribbon through meshes at lower edge of bag.
