A pair of grey pillow cases.
CRINOLINE LADY—Skirt … Starting at waistband with Yellow, ch 14. 1st rnd: Dc in 6th ch from hook, (ch 1, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch) 4 times. Ch 1, turn. Now make sc closely around, making sc in each dc and each ch-1 sp and 3 sc in each end sp, sc in each ch along opposite side of starting chain. Join.
Now work in rows as follows: 1st row: Sc in same place as sl st, (ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc) 5 times. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: In first loop make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell made), sc in next loop, 15 tr in next loop, sc in next loop, 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc in next loop (another shell made). Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: In sp of next shell make 2 dc, ch 2 and 2 dc (shell made over shell), (ch 1, tr in next tr) 15 times; ch 1, shell in sp of next shell. Now work pineapples individually as follows: 1st row: Shell over shell, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 loop, (ch 3, sc in next loop) twice; ch 4, shell over next shell. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: Shell over shell, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 loop, ch 3, sc in next loop, ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: Shell over shell, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 loop, ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn. 4th row: Shell over shell, ch 4, shell over shell. Attach thread to opposite side and complete other small pineapple in this manner.
LARGE PINEAPPLE … 1st row: Attach thread to free sp of shell on 11th row, shell in same sp, ch 4, sc in next ch-3 loop, (ch 3, sc in next loop) 5 times; ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn. 2nd to 5th rows incl: Work as for last row, having one ch-3 loop less on each row until 1 loop remains. 6th row: Shell over shell, ch 4, sc in ch-3 loop, ch 4, shell over shell. Ch 5, turn. 7th row: Shell over shell, 2 dc in sp of next shell, sl st in sp of last shell made, 2 dc in sp of incompleted shell. Ch 5, turn. Sl st between shells. Break off.
EDGING … 1st row: Attach Yellow to first ch-5 loop on side of skirt, sc in same place, ch 4, (shell in next loop, ch 2) 9 times; shell in next 2 loops, (ch 2, shell in next loop) 6 times; (shell in next loop, ch 2) 9 times; shell in next loop, ch 4, sl st in end sp on 1st row of skirt. BODY … Starting at center with Bright Nile Green, ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 17 dc in ring. Join with sl st to top of ch-3. 2nd rnd: Ch 4, * dc in next dc, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Join to 3rd ch of ch-4. 3rd rnd: Sl st in next sp, sc in same sp, * ch 3, sc in next sp. Repeat from * around. Join. 4th rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 4, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Sew to skirt.
ARM … Starting at bottom with Bright Nile Green, ch 5. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next ch. Ch 3, turn. 2nd to 9th rows incl: Skip first dc, dc in next dc, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 10th row: Dc in first dc, 2 dc in next dc, 2 dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 11th row: Dc in first dc, 2 dc in each dc across, 2 dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 12th row: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 13th row: Skip first dc, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc make dc in next 3 dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), dc in next 4 dc, cluster over next 3 dc, dc in top of turning chain. Break off. Sew Arm to Body.
HEAD … Starting at center with Mid Pink, ch 4. 1st rnd: 15 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in each of next 9 dc. Break off Pink, attach Yellow and make 2 dc in each remaining dc around. Join and break off. Sew to Body, leaving Yellow section free for crown of Hat.
HAT BRIM … Starting at center with Yellow, ch 34. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 5, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * around. Join. 2nd rnd: Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 5, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Fold in half and sew to top of Head.
FLOWER … With Blue, ch 4, dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, sc in same ch, (ch 3, dc in same ch, ch 3, sc in same ch) 3 times. Join and break off. Make a Green and Pink Flower in this manner. Sew flowers to Hat.
Make 3 more Crinoline Ladies. Rip out hem of pillow case and press out creases. Place Crinoline Ladies in position. Sew in place. Cut out material in back of skirt, leaving enough for a small hem. Sew hem in place. Make a narrow hem all around pillow case.
EDGING … 1st row: Attach Yellow to pillow case at end of last Crinoline Lady, sc closely across back to next Crinoline Lady. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: In first sc make dc, 3 picots and 2 dc, * ch 3, skip 3 sc, sc in next sc, ch 3, skip 3 sc, in next sc make 2 dc, 3 picots and 2 dc. Repeat from * across. Break off. Starch Crinoline Ladies lightly and press.
