1 BERNAT-Aero crochet hook size F (Canadian Wool Crochet Hook No. 5)
OR ANY SIZE HOOK THAT WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW

GAUGE: 5 s c = 1 inch; 5 rounds = 1 inch

PAILLETTE LOOP STITCH: * With WRONG SIDE facing you, insert needle in next st, y o hook and draw through this st, y o and draw through 1 loop on hook, slip 1 paillette down close to work, holding third finger of left-hand in back of work OVER YARN, insert hook in same st, y o hook and pull through st, y o hook and pull through 3 loops on hook, remove finger, repeat from * for paillette loop st.

CROWN: String paillettes onto yarn. Ch 2. Round 1: Work 6 s c in second ch from hook. Round 2: Work 2 s c in each st — 6 s c increased. Round 3: * 1 s c in next st, 2 s c in next st, repeat from * 5 times more — 6 s c increased. Round 4: * 2 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each of next 2 sts, repeat from * 5 times more — 6 s c increased. Round 5: * 1 s c in each of next 3 sts, 2 s c in next st, repeat from * 5 times more — 6 s c increased. Continue in this manner to increase 6 sts in each round, being sure that increases do not come directly over each other, 7 times more, ch 1, turn — 72 sts. Piece should measure approximately 5 inches in diameter. With wrong side facing you, work 1 paillette loop st in each st for 2 rounds, ch 1, turn. Work even in s c for 6 rounds. Work 2 rounds of paillette loops in same manner as before. ** Work even in s c for 5 rounds. On the next round inc 6 sts at even intervals. Work 2 rounds of paillette loops on 78 sts in same manner as before. Repeat from ** once more. Work even in s c on 84 sts for 2 rounds. Fasten off.
