BERNAT OPAL TWEED (2 oz. balls) — 4
1 BERNAT-Aero crochet hook Size I (Canadian Wool Crochet Hook No. 7)
OR ANY SIZE HOOK THAT WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW

GAUGE: 2 s c = 1 inch; 3 rows = 1 inch

Using double strand of yarn, ch 2. Round 1: Work 6 s c in 2nd st from hook. Round 2: 2 s c in each s c — 12 s c. Round 3: * 1 s c in next st, 2 s c in next st, repeat from * to end of round — 6 sts increased. Round 4: * 1 s c in each of next 2 sts, 2 s c in next st, repeat from * to end of round — 6 sts increased. Round 5: 1 s c in each s c. Round 6: * 1 s c in each of next 3 s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * around. Continue in this manner to inc 6 sts every other round 4 times more — 54 s c. Rounds 15, 16 and 17: 1 s c in each s c. BRIM: Join another strand of yarn. Using 3 strands of yarn, ch 1, turn. * With WRONG SIDE facing you, hold third finger of left-hand in back of work over the yarn, draw up a loop in next st, y o and through 1 triple loop on hook, draw up a loop in same st, y o and through all 3 triple loops on hook, remove finger, repeat from * to end of round, join with sl st in first st, ch 1, turn. Round 2: 1 s c in each st, join with sl st, ch 1, turn. Repeat last 2 rounds 5 times more. Fasten off. Steam.
