REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 1-ounce of 3-ply Baby Yarn
CROCHET HOOK: #3 Bone

GAUGE: 8 sts to an inch. 9 rows to an inch.

   MITTEN: Starting at the tip of fingers: Chain 4 sts, join with a slip st to form a ring, 10 s c into ring. (Mark the beginning of round with a colored thread as an aid in counting). 2nd round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 3rd and every uneven round: Make 1 s c in each st around. 4th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 2 sts, repeat from * around once. 6th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 3 sts, repeat from * around once. 8th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 4 sts, repeat from * around once. 10th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 5 sts, repeat from * around once. 12th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 6 sts; repeat from * around once. 14th round: * 2 s c in next sts, 1 s c in next 7 sts; repeat from * around once, (45 sts in all). Work 1 s c into each stitch until the piece measures 3-inches in all. In­crease 1 st in last row, end row with a slip st. Pattern: Row 1: Ch 5 sts, * skip 2 sts, 1 d c in next st, skip 2 sts; 2 d c in next st; ch 2; 2 d c in next st; ch 2; 2 d c back in same space as first 2 d c, (shell); repeat from * around ending with a shell; join with a slip st in 3rd st of ch at the beginning of row. Row 2: Ch 5, * over chain 2 space on row below make 2 d c; ch 2, 2 d c; 1 d c around d c on row below; repeat from * around, ending with a slip st in 3rd st of chain. Repeat row 2 for 2 inches. Make the 2nd mitten the same way.
