Carry-All Bag Pattern

COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MER­CERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 6 balls of No. 10-A Canary Yellow and 1 ball of No. 126 Spanish Red.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).
Red plastic for lining … 10 bone rings … 4 corks.

   Starting at bottom with Canary Yellow, make a chain 6 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 4 inches. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 14 inches.

SIDE PIECE1st rnd: Sc closely around bottom. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 5, dc in same place as sl st, * skip 2 sc, in next sc make dc, ch 2 and dc. Repeat from * around. Join to 3rd ch of ch-5. 3rd rnd: In each sp around make sc, ch 3 and sc. Join. 4th rnd: Sl st in next loop, ch 5, dc in same place, in each loop around make dc, ch 2 and dc. Join. Repeat 3rd and 4th rnds alternately until Side Piece measures 12 inches, ending with 4th rnd. Break off.
   Line bag with plastic, leaving 3 rnds free at top. With Canary Yellow, sc closely around bone rings. Sew rings evenly spaced around top of bag.

CORD … Cut 12 strands of Spanish Red, each 3 yards long. Twist these strands tightly, then double and give them a twist in the opposite direction. Knot free ends. Lace cord through rings and tie, leaving 3 inches free. Attach a cork to each end of cord. Make another cord the same way and lace through rings in the opposite direction.
