Small, Medium and Large

COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MER­CERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 1 ball each of No. 43 Dk. Yellow, No. 48 Hunter's Green and No. 126 Spanish Red.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).
1 pair of rubber soles—small, medium or large.

GAUGE: 1 pattern stripe makes 1 inch; 3 pattern sts make 1 inch.

LOWER BAND … With Spanish Red make a chain to reach around outer edge of sole, having a number of sts divisible by 3. Join. 1st rnd: Sc in same place, * ch 3, dc in same place as sc, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * around. Join. 2nd rnd: Sl st to cen­ter ch of first ch-3, sc in same place, * ch 2, sc in center ch of next ch-3. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. This completes Lower Band. Sew to sole.

UPPER … Starting at narrow end with Spanish Red, ch 14. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch 3, dc in same place as sc, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 1. turn. 2nd row: Sc in first sc, * ch 2, sc in center ch of next ch-3. Repeat from * across. Drop Spanish Red, attach Canary Yellow and draw through loop on hook. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in first sc, * ch 3, dc in same place, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 4th row: Repeat 2nd row. Drop Canary Yellow, attach Hunter's Green. Ch 1, turn. 5th and 6th rows: Repeat 3rd and 4th rows. Continue to work in pattern, alternating colors until piece reaches around Lower Band. Break off. Attach Spanish Red to any corner sc and sl st evenly across long side of strip. Break off. Complete other long side the same way. Place markers 1½ inches from center of toe. Cross ends of strip, pin to markers; leaving a 1½-inch space free on each side of band, pin re­mainder of strip to band. Sew in place. Make another slipper the same way.
