Clark's Big Ball Three Cord Mercerized Crochet, Art. B.34, Size 20, 1 ball of No. 123-A Flamingo.

Starting at lower edge with Crystal Blue make a chain 7 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until row measures 5 ½ inches. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 5 ½ inches from starting chain. Break off.
BORDER . . . 1st rnd: Attach a double strand of Flamingo to any corner, 3 sc in same place, sc closely around outer edge making 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of 3-sc group at each corner. Join. Break off at end of 3rd rnd.
LOBSTER-Body . . . With double strand of Flamingo, ch 16. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across, 5 dc in last ch. Working along opposite side of starting chain, dc in each ch across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first dc, dc in each st around, making 2 dc in each of the 3 center dc of 5-dc group at rounded end. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in first dc, (ch 8, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in next 5 ch small claw sc in next 2 dc) 4 times; sc in next 6 dc, ch 3, sl st in side of last sc made eye sc in next 2 dc, ch 27, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across feeler sc in next 4 dc, ch 27, complete feeler and other side to correspond. Break off.
MEDIUM CLAW . . . Attach double strand of Flamingo to first sc following first set of small claws made, ch 30. 1st row: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 12 ch, (skip next ch, sc in next 3 ch) 3 times; skip next ch, sc in each remaining chain, sl st in next 2 sc on Body. Turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across to within last 11 sc, sl st in next sc, (in next sc make sl st, ch 3 and sl st, sl st in next 2 sc) twice; in next sc make sl st, ch 3 and sl st teeth. Break off. 3rd row: With wrong side of last row facing, attach double strand of Flamingo to 3rd sc following teeth, sc in next 3 sc, ch 15, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, half dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, dc in next 2 ch, 2 dc in next ch, dc in next ch, half dc in each remaining ch, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in side of next half dc, in base of same half dc and in next st, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), (work off next 3 sc as 1 sc) twice; sc in each remaining st, sl st in Body. Break off.
LARGE CLAW . . . With wrong side of last row of Body facing, attach double strand of Flamingo to first sc following claws, ch 50. 1st row: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 2 ch, skip next ch, (sc in next 5 ch, work off next 2 sc as 1 sc) 4 times; sc in next 2 ch, work off next 2 sc as 1 sc, sc in next 12 ch, sl st in next 2 sts on Body. Turn. 2nd row: (Sc in next 3 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc) twice; half dc in next sc, dc in next sc, work off next 2 dc as 1 dc, dc in next 3 sc, (work off 2 dc as 1 dc, dc in next sc ) 6 times; work off 2 sc as 1 sc, sc in next 3 sc, sl st in next 3 sc. Turn. 3rd row: (In next st make sl st, ch 3 and sl st, sl st in next st) twice; ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next 2 sts, (ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, half dc in next 2 sts ) twice; dc in next 12 sts; ch 21, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, half dc in next 3 ch, dc in next 3 ch, 2 dc in next ch, tr in next 5 ch, dc in next 6 ch, make a 5-dc cluster by making 2 dc in side of next dc, dc in base of same dc and dc in next 2 sts, half dc in next st, sc in each remaining st, sl st in Body. Break off.
TAIL . . . Starting at lower end, ch 11. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across, 2 dc in last ch. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sl st in back loop of each dc across. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Working in back loop of previous dc row make 3 dc in first dc, dc in each dc across to within last 3 dc, 3 dc in next dc. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately 3 more times. Break off.
Now work as follows: With wrong side of first dc row facing, attach double strand of Flamingo to first ch on opposite side of starting chain. 1st row: Sl st in each ch across. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: 4 tr in back loop of first sl st, tr in back loop of each sl st across, 5 tr in back loop of last sl st. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Skip first tr, sl st in next 2 tr, in next tr make sc, 2 half dc and sc; half dc in next tr, dc in next tr, 3 tr in next tr, dc in next tr, half dc in next tr, in next tr make sc, 2 half dc and sc. Break off.
Sew Lobster in place on pot holder. Attach double strand of Flamingo to bone ring. Sc closely around ring. Break off. Sew to corner. Cut felt to size and sew in place for lining.
