REQUIREMENTS:

YARN: 5-ounces of 3-ply Baby Yarn
CROCHET HOOK: #3 Bone Hook
TRIMMING SILK: 1-ball

SWEATER: Starting at the neck, make a chain of 77 sts; 1 s c in 2nd ch from hook 1 s c in next 12 sts, (front); 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in next 11 sts (sleeve); 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in next 24 sts (back); 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in next 11 sts (sleeve); 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in last 13 sts (front); ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 1 s c in next 14 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in next 13 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in next 26 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in next 13 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in last 14 sts, ch 1 turn. 3rd row: 1 s c in next 15 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in next 15 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in next 28 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in next 15 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in last 15 sts, ch 1, turn. Continue in the above manner, increase at each of the 4 corners, by putting 3 s c into the middle st of the group of 3 on the row below. Note: You will have 1 more st each time on the fronts and 2 sts more in the sleeves and back. Work until the yoke has this for the LAST ROW: 1 s c in next 31 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1scin next 47 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in next 60 sts; 3 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 47 sts; 3 s c in next st; 1 s c in last 31 sts. Ch 1, turn. NEXT ROW: 1 s c in next 33 sts; skip next 49 sts of sleeve; 1 s c in next 62 sts; skip next 49 sts of 2nd sleeve; 1 s c in last 33 sts. Turn.

PATTERN: ROW 1: Ch 4, yarn over hook twice, pull loop through first st, yarn over and through 2 loops, yarn over, skip 2 sts, pull loop through next st, yarn over and through 2 loops, yarn over and through 2 loops; yarn over and through 2 loops, yarn over and through 2 loops, ch 2, d c into center of cross, * yarn over hook twice, pull loop through same space as last st made, yarn over and through 2 loops, yarn over, skip 2 sts, pull loop through next st (yarn over and through 2 loops 4 times); ch 2, d c into center of cross; repeat from * to end of row, ending with a treble in last st. Turn. ROW 2: Ch 4 sts; * 3 d c over each ch 2 space on row below; repeat from * across row; ending with a d c in top of turning chain. Repeat these 2 rows to form the pattern. Work in the pattern until the piece measures 6 inches from yoke; ending with row of d c. Break yarn.

SLEEVES: With right side of work facing you tie yarn at underarm edge and start pattern as on sweater. Work back and forth until the sleeve measures 5½ inches from s c row; ending with row of d c. Break yarn. MAKE THE OTHER SLEEVE THE SAME WAY. BEADING AT NECK EDGE: With the right side of work facing you, tie yarn at neck edge and work row 1 of pattern. Break yarn. PICOT EDGE: With silk, work 1 row of picot around edges of sleeves and around sweater as follows: * 1 s c in next 5 sts; ch 4; slip st back into last s c; repeat from * around. Break silk.

BONNET: Starting at crown: Ch 3 sts, join with slip st to form a ring. Make 6 s c into ring, (mark the beginning of round with a colored thread as an aid in counting). 2nd round: 2 s c into each st around, (12 sts). 3rd round: 1 s c in next st, 2 s c in next st; repeat around once. 4th round: 1 s c in next 2 sts, 2 s c in next st; repeat around once. Keep increasing 6 sts on a round, having 1 more st between each increase until you have 16 sts between each increase, (108 sts.) End round with a slip st. Ch 4 and over 90 sts work in the PATTERN back and forth until the piece measures 5½ inches from last s c; ending with row of d c. Break yarn. Turn back along front about 1½ inches for front band. Tack down at sides. NECK BAND: With the right side of work facing you, tie yarn at front edge. Make 3 s c over each chain space across side front; 1 s c in each st across back; work across 2nd side front as before. 2nd-3rd-4th rows: Ch 1, turn; make 1 s c into each stitch. Break yarn. Along front turn back, on a row of d c make the picot trimming. Trim with ribbon

BOOTIES: Instep and sole: Chain 10 sts, turn, 1 s c into 2nd st from hook and in each of next 8 sts. Ch 1, turn. Work in s c, st for st, for 8 more rows. Ch 27 sts; join with a slip st to corner, 9 s c along side of instep; 9 s c across toe; 9 s c along 2nd side of instep; 1 s c in each chain, (54 sts). Work around in s c for 8 more rows. Break yarn. Sew sole. TOP PART: Tie yarn in 14th st of the chain at back and work back and forth in the pattern as on sweater for 2½ inches, ending with a row of d c. Sew up back of bootie. Across top, make 1 row of picot with silk. MAKE THE OTHER BOOTIE THE SAME WAY.

MITTENS: Starting at the tip of fingers: Ch 4 sts, join with a slip st to form a ring, 10 s c into ring. (Mark the beginning of the round with a colored thread as an aid in counting). 2nd round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next st, repeat from * around once. 3rd and every uneven round: Make 1 s c in each st around. 4th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 2 sts, repeat from * around once. 6th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 3 sts, repeat from * around once. 8th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 4 sts; repeat from * around once. 10th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 5 sts; repeat from * around once. 12th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 6 sts; repeat from * around once. 14th round: * 2 s c in next st, 1 s c in next 7 sts, repeat from * around once, (45 sts in all). Work 1 s c into each stitch until the piece measures 3 inches in all. Increase 1 stitch in last row, end row with a slip st. Work back and forth in the pattern as on the sweater for 2 inches; ending with row of d c. Sew opening together. Trim with picot around edge. Run ribbon through first open work row at wrist. Work the other mitten the same way.
