Materials: J. & P. Coats Crochet Cord, 6 balls color 84 Beige, 3 balls color 126 Spanish Red, and 3 balls color 68 Skipper Blue. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 4.

With Beige, ch 200, skip 2 sts from hook, 1 s c in next, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, 1 s c in next, and repeat from * across, ch 2, turn. 2nd row: 1 s c under ch-1 of previous row, * ch 1, skip 1 s c, s c under next ch of previous row, and repeat from * across, ch 2, turn. Work 3 more rows in this way, then work 2 rows of Blue, 3 of Beige, 2 of Red, 3 of Beige, 2 of Blue, and 5 of Beige. Break off. Attach Red to last st, * ch 5, skip 3 s c, 1 s c under next ch-1, and repeat from * across. Do the same down the other length. Work 3 more stripes, finished off in same manner.

Put two stripes together, and join with Blue through the Red loops by 2 s c through the first loops of the stripes, * ch 5, 2 s c through the 2nd loops of the stripes, and repeat from * across. Make 2 more long seams in same manner, then double the stripes, and join the sides in same manner. This will be wrong side of bag. Finish top from right side by working with Red, 1 s c in every row, then a 2nd row worked in d c. Finish off with sl st. Make 2 handles by working 2 rows of Beige, 2 of Red, 2 of Beige on a ch of 150. Sew to top of bag as shown in illustration.
