Materials:
Chadwick's Red Heart Knitting Worsted, 4 balls (1 oz. balls) of French Rose
Bone Crochet Hook No. 8
20 inches of millinery wire
1⅓ yards of ribbon
2 yards of veiling

Use a double strand throughout.

Starting at center, ch 4. Join. 1st rnd: 10 sc in ring. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. 3rd rnd: Sc in each sc around. 4th rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (40 sc). 5th to 8th rnds incl: Sc in each sc around. Overlap edges of wire to form a circle 6 inches in di­ameter and tie ends securely.

9th rnd: Holding wire at top of last rnd and working over it in order to conceal it, make sc in each sc around. 10th rnd: Still working over wire, make sc between each sc around. 11th to 17th rnds incl: Sc in each sc around. 18th rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (80 sc). 19th to 23rd rnds incl: Sc in each sc around. Sl st in last sc. Break off.

Using 3 strands, make a chain long enough to fit around head. Break off. Sew ends together. Sew this end to inside of crown; tack at each side of brim. Divide edge of brim into 3 equal parts and mark with pins. Fold brim back 1¼ inches at each pin mark and tack in place. Fold ribbon in half lengthwise and machine stitch through center; cut into 4 equal pieces. Make a bow from each piece. Sew 2 bows to each of 2 turnback points. Knot veil in center and tack to remaining turnback point.
