Distinctive Edging Pattern #8405
Materials:
We suggest thread in sizes 20 to 60.
ACORNS … 1st row: Ch 18, s c in 9th ch from hook, * ch 5, skip 2 ch, s c in next ch. Repeat from * across (4 loops). Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: * S c in next loop, ch 5. Repeat from * across, ch 5, s c in same loop (5 loops), turn. 3rd row: Sl st to center of 1st loop (1 loop decreased), * ch 5, s c in next loop. Repeat from * across (4 loops), turn. 4th row: Same as last row (3 loops). Do not turn but work 3 s c in 1st loop of 2nd row, 6 s c in corner loop, 3 s c in each of next 2 loops, ch 33, sl st in 18th ch from hook and continue around, making 36 s c in ring just made, s c in each of remaining chain, 3 s c in each of next 2 loops, 6 s c in corner loop, 3 s c in next loop, ch 3, 3 d c in next loop, d c in next s c, 3 d c in next loop, d c in next s c, 3 d c in next loop, d c in next s c. Ch 3, turn. 5th and 6th rows: D c in each of 1st 2 d c, holding back the last loop of each d c on hook, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (1 d c decreased), d c in each d c across, decreasing 1 d c at opposite end. Ch 3, turn. 7th row: Dec. 1 d c, d c in each of next 2 d c, ch 5, sl st in 5th ch from hook (a p made), d c in each of next 2 d c, dec. 1 d c. Fasten off. Make another acorn same as this until ch-18 loop is completed, then make 18 s c in ring, sl st in 10th s c of chain of previous acorn, make 12 s c back in ring, sl st in 3rd s c of corner of 2nd acorn, 6 s c back in ring and continue making s c in each of remaining chain (stem) and complete as for 1st acorn to end of 3rd d c row, sl st in 3rd s c at corner of 1st acorn and complete as before. Fasten off. Make the necessary number of acorns for desired length, joining to previous one as 2nd was joined to 1st.
HEADING … Attach thread to 9th s c on ring counting from stem and to the right and work as follows: 1st row: S c in each of 2 s c, * ch 7, d c in center s c of stem (between rings), ch 7, skip 8 s c of next ring, s c in each of next 2 s c. Repeat from * across. Fasten off.
