Distinctive Edging Pattern #8503
Materials:
We suggest thread in sizes 20 to 60.
Starting at one end of scroll, ch 13. 1st row: D c in 10th ch from hook, d c in next 3 ch. Ch 9, turn. 2nd row: D c in next 4 d c. Ch 9, turn. Repeat 2nd row until there are 13 loops on each side; d c in each d c, * ch 4, skip 11 loops on same side as ch-4 just made, s c in next loop, ch 4, turn. D c in next 4 d c and work in pattern until there are 9 loops, after the joining, on each side of d c’s. Repeat from * for desired length. Fasten off. Now wind thread 10 times around a pencil (about ¼ inch in diameter). Remove ring of thread from pencil, make 2 s c in ring, ch 1, s c in 1st free inner loop after joining, ch 1, ** 2 s c in ring, ch 1, s c in next free inner loop, ch 1. Repeat from ** until all loops have been worked, 2 s c in ring. Join and fasten off. Join thus to a ring the 11 inner loops of each section.
HEADING … 1st row: With wrong side toward you, attach thread to 6th free outer loop preceding 1st joining, ch 10 (to count as d tr and ch-5), * d c in next loop, (ch 5, s c in next loop) twice, ch 5, d c in next loop, ch 5, d tr in next 2 loops, ch 5. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: D c in each st across. Fasten off.
SCALLOPS … 1st row: With wrong side toward you, attach thread to 6th free loop preceding 1st joining; * (ch 9, s c in next loop) 5 times; in joining make d tr, ch 3 and d tr; s c in next loop. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: In each ch-9 loop make: s c, half d c, 11 d c, half d c, s c; and in each ch-3 between scallops make 5 s c. Fasten off.
