MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS or CLARK'S O.N.T. PEARL COTTON
, size 5, 1 ball each of a light and a dark color.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 6.
A bone ring.

Starting at center with Dark, ch 4. 1st rnd: 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Sl st in top st of turning ch. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in each dc around (12 dc increased). Join. 3rd rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, dc in each dc around, increasing as necessary (about 12 dc) to keep work flat. Keeping dark loop on hook, make a loop of Light, insert hook in top st of starting chain and draw light loop through both the chain and the dark loop (thus joining rnd and new color). Fasten off Dark. Now work 3 rnds of Light, changing color as before and increasing as necessary to keep work flat. Now work 3 rnds of Dark, 3 rnds of Light and 1 rnd of Dark. Fasten off. Make another piece same as this, but reverse colors.

FINISHING . . . Place padding (for padding, see pattern book) between crocheted pieces and sew edges together. Sew on ring.
