MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 1 ball each of No. 123-A Flamingo and No. 43 Dk. Yellow ... A few yards of No. 12 Black ... Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 4 ... A bone ring.

Use 1 strand of Flamingo and
1 strand of Yellow throughout.

Starting at bottom, ch 11. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 2 sc in first sc (1 sc increased), sc in each sc across, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until there are 44 sc on row. Work without increasing until piece measures 4 ½  inches. Dec 1 sc at both ends of each row until 10 sc remain—to dec 1 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc. Break off at end of last row. With a single strand of Flamingo embroider lines on Pumpkin.

EYE (Make 2) ... Starting at bottom with a single strand of Black and No. 7 hook, ch 12. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Dec 1 sc at both ends of row. Ch 1, turn. Repeat last row until 3 sc remain. Work off last 3 sc as 1 sc. Break off. Sew Eyes to Head.

NOSE ... Starting at bottom, ch 10. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 1, turn. Dec 1 sc at beginning of each row until 1 sc remains. Break off. Sew in place.

MOUTH ... Starting at top with Black, ch 26. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * 2 sc in next ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: Dec 1 sc at both ends of row. Ch 1, turn. Break off at end of 3rd row. Sew in place.

Make another piece the same way. For Padding, see patternbook page. Sew pieces together. With Black sc closely around bone ring and sew to top.
