Steel Crochet Hook No. 9 or 10.
Doily measures about 13 inches.

Ch 6, d c in first st of ch, * ch 2, d c in same space, repeat from * 4 times, ch 2 and join in 4th st of ch 6.

2nd Row. 3 s c in each loop, join.

3rd Row. Ch 4, 1 d c in each s c with ch 1 between each d c (21 meshes).

4th Row. 2 s c in each space.

5th Row. Increase in every 3rd s c and work 1 row even.

7th Row. Increase in every 5th s c and work 2 rows even.

10th Row. Ch 4, skip 1 s c, tr c in next s c, ch 4, skip 1 s c, sl st in next s c, repeat from beginning all around ending row with tr c instead of ch.

11th Row. Ch 7, s c in next tr c, repeat from beginning all around.

12th Row. 9 s c over each loop.

13th Row. Ch 6, tr c in center of scallop, ch 6, sl st between scallops, repeat from beginning all around ending row with d tr c instead of ch.

14th Row. Ch 7, 3 s c over next tr c, repeat from beginning all around.

15th Row. 1 s c in each s c and 8 s c over each loop.

Next 5 Rows. 1 s c in each s c. Repeat 10th and 11th rows.

Next Row. Work 7 s c over each loop, join, and repeat 13th row.

Next Row. Ch 6, s c in next tr c, repeat from beginning all around.

Next Row. 7 s c in each loop.

Next 5 Rows. 1 s c in each s c.

Next Row. 11 s c, * ch 7, skip 4 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 11 s c, repeat from * all around, ending last loop in 2nd s c of 1st group of s c. Work 8 more s c, ch 6, sl st into center of loop, ch 6, skip 1 s c, 1 s c in each of the next 9 s c, continue all around and work 4 more rows decreasing 1 s c each side of solid section and increasing 1 mesh each side of open section of scallop.
