3-250 Yd. Balls Dark Linen.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 11 or No. 12.

With Cream, ch 56, d c in 8th st from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 sts of ch, d c in next st, repeat from * 15 times, ch 5, turn.

2nd Row. * D c in d c, 2 d c in mesh, d c in d c, ch 2, d c in next d c, 2 d c in mesh, d c in d c, ch 9, skip 3 meshes, repeat from *, d c in d c, 2 d c in mesh, d c in d c, 2 d c in mesh, d c in d c, ch 2, d c in center st of corner, ch 5, turn.

3rd Row. 2 o m (open meshes), 1 s m (solid mesh), 1 o m, ch 9, 1 o m, 1 s m, 1 o m, ch 9, 1 o m, 1 s m, 2 o m, ch 5, turn.

4th Row. 1 o m, * 1 s m, 1 o m, 1 s m, ch 5, s c in center st of ch in 2nd row, (over ch 9 of 3rd row) ch 5, repeat from *, 1 o m, ch 5, turn.

5th and 6th Rows. 4 o m, ch 9, 3 o m, ch 9, 4 o m, ch 5, turn.

7th Row. 4 o m, * ch 5, s c in center st of ch 9 of 5th row, ch 5, 3 o m, repeat from *, 1 o m, ch 5, turn and repeat from 2nd row for about 10 or 11 inches ending with the 5th row of pattern and work 1 row of open meshes across row.

Join Dark Linen in 1st mesh from corner in upper edge of work, work 3 s c in each mesh on each side and 8 s c in each corner mesh.

2nd Row. Ch 4, tr c in next s c, * ch 2, skip 2 s c, 1 tr c in each of the next 2 s c, repeat from * to corner, in corner work 4 groups of 2 tr c with ch 2 between without skipping the 2 s c. Continue all around. There must be the same number of groups of tr c on each side.

3rd Row. 2 s c in ch 2, * ch 6, s c in next ch 2, repeat from * all around.

Work 3 more sections joining them to each other in the last row of border as follows: Beginning in the center of corner, work the 2 s c in corner ch, * ch 3, join to corresponding loop of completed section, ch 3, 2 s c in next ch 2, repeat from * across long side to corner, and complete 2nd section.

Tassels. Cap. Ch 2, 5 s c in 1st ch, without joining rows work 2 s c in each s c, then work 1 row of 1 s c in each s c. Last row, work 1 s c in every other s c.

For the 2 center sections, cut 18 6-inch strands for each tassel and for the 2 end sections cut 18 4-inch strands for each tassel. Tie strands together at center leaving a length of thread for sewing, slip through the center of cap and attach to chair back. For Arm Rests work 2 sections about 10 inches long or length desired.
