DRITZ Belastraw Art. No. 110,
2 tubes.
DRITZ Metallic Yarn Art. No. 114,
1 tube.
DRITZ Steel Crochet Hook No. 1.
GAUGE: 5 sc make 1".

BRETON BEAUTY HAT--No. 778

CROWN: Ch 4. Join with sl st to form ring.

1st rnd: 8 sc in ring. Mark last st of each rnd.

2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc (16 sc).

3rd rnd: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * (24 sc).

4th rnd: * Sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * (32 sc).

Continue thus, increasing 8 sc on each rnd until there are 104 sc on rnd. Work straight until piece measures 5 3/4" from start.

BRIM: 1st rnd: * Sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * until there are 129 sc on rnd. Join with sl st in 1st sc.

2nd rnd: Ch 3, sc in each sc (129 dc). Join with sl st in top of ch-3.

3rd to 9th rnds: Ch 3, dc in each dc (129 dc). Join. Drop Belastraw.

MESH: Attach Metallic Yarn in same place as 1st dc of 2nd rnd, ch 1, sc where yarn was attached, * ch 5, skip 2 dc, sc in same place as next dc. Repeat from *ending with ch 2, dc in 1st sc (43 loops).

Following rnd: * Ch 5, insert hook through next loop and in base of next corresponding dc on following rnd and pull loop through, complete and sc. Repeat from * ending with ch 2, dc in top of dc. Repeat last rnd until there are 8 rnds of loops. End off Metallic Yarn. Pick up Belastraw.

Next rnd: Work sc around catching center of each Metallic loop.

Following rnd: * Sc in 4 sc, skip next sc. Repeat from * (104 sc). Work 1 rnd straight. End off.

Turn Brim under whip edge to last sc rnd on inside of crown. If desired, brush with sizing.
