Materials Required

BAG No. 785
DRITZ Belastraw Art. No. 110,
2 tubes.
DRITZ Metallic Yarn Art. No. 114,
1 tube.
DRITZ Steel Crochet Hook No. 1.
DRITZ Bag Lining No. 814 (Facile Top) or
DRITZ Bag Lining No. 814Z (Zipper Top).

GAUGE: 5 sts make 1".

TOWN CLUB BAG--No. 785

BAG PIECE: Starting at center bottom with Belastraw ch 57 to measure 11 1/2".

1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch (56 sc). Ch 3, turn.

2nd row: Dc in each sc (56 dc). End off.

3rd row: Attach Metallic Yarn in top of ch 3 at beginning of last row, * sc in next 2 dc, insert hook in base of next dc and pull loop through (long loop), insert hook in top of same dc and pull loop through, pull same loop through long loop, y o, through remaining 2 loops on kook (a long sc made). Repeat from * ending with sc in last 2 dc (56 sc). End off.

4th row: Attach Belastraw in 1st sc of last row, ch 3, dc in same sc where yarn was attached, dc in each st across (56 dc). End off.

5th row: Attach Metallic Yarn in top of ch 3 at beginning of last row, sc in next dc, make a long sc in next dc, sc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * (56 sts). End off.

6th row: Repeat 4th row. Repeat the last 4 rows (3rd to 6th rows incl) until piece measures 2 1/2" ending with a Metallic row.

Next row: Skip 1st sc and work same as 4th row but do not work in last sc (1 st decreased on each end). Work next 3 rows in pattern. Repeat last 4 rows until 46 sts remeain. Work straight, if necessary until piece measures 7 1/2" ending with a Metallic row. Work 1 row of sc with Belastraw. End off. With right side facing, attach Belastraw to base of 1st sc on 1st row and work other side to correspond.

Note: This pattern has a tendency to slant. However, it pulls into shape when Gussets are in place.

GUSSET--(make 2): Ch 21 to measure 4 1/4"

1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

2nd row: Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row 2 more times. Then dec 1 st at both ends of next row and every 4th row until 6 sts remain.

Work straight until piece measures 5 1/2" in all. End off.

Pin Gussets in place between folded Bag Piece. Join by working sc through both thicknesses. Mount on DRITZ Bag Lining.

HANDLE--(make 2): Make a chain 12" long.

1st rnd: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch to last ch, 5 sc in last ch, then working along opposite side make sc in each ch.

2nd rnd: (Sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc) twice; sc in each sc around turning at other end in same way.

3rd rnd: Sl st in each sc around. End off. Sew Handles in place.
