DRITZ Steel Crochet Hook No. 0 (Zero).
GAUGE: 4 1/2 sc make 1".
BEST BEAU HAT--No. 804

Starting at top, ch 84 to measure 19". Join with sl st in 1st ch, forming a ring.

1st rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st. Sc in each ch (84 sc). Mark last st of each rnd.

2nd rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 13 sc. Repeat from * (90 sc).

3rd rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 14 sc. Repeat from * (96 sc).

4th to 10th rnds: Sc in each sc.

11th rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 11 sc. Repeat from * (104 sc).

12th to 17th rnds: Sc in each sc.

18th rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 12 sc. Repeat from * (112 sc).

19th rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 13 sc. Repeat from * (120 sc).

20th rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 14 sc. Repeat from * (128 sc).

Sl st in next sc; turn.

21st to 27th rnds: Sc in each sc.

28th rnd: * Work off 2 sc as 1 sc (dec made), sc in next 14 sc. Repeat from * (120 sc).

29th rnd: * Dec 1 sc, sc in each of next 13 sc. Repeat from * (112 sc).

Sl st in next sc; turn.

30th rnd: * Dec 1 sc, sc in each of next 12 sc. Repeat from * (108 sc). End off. (This is front of hat).

RIDGES: Holding hat upside down, attach strand in 2nd rnd at front of hat. Make sc over end sc of 2nd rnd. End off. Make another ridge in same way over 3rd rnd of hat.

Holding hat right side up, work 1 rnd of sc around open top. End off.

Turn edge of brim up against crown. Press and tack. Make several loops of ribbon and attach to front of hat with a band of ribbon looped through top of hat and ever edge of brim.
