GAUGE: 5 sc make 1".

BON VIVANT BAG--No. 789

BAG PIECE: With Belastraw, ch 4. Join with sl st to form ring.

1st rnd: 8 sc in ring. Mark last st of each rnd.

2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc (16 sc).

3rd rnd: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * (24 sc). Continue thus increasing 8 sc on each rnd until there are 104 sc. Work 1 rnd straight. Piece measures about 6" across. End off.

1st Metallic Band: 1st rnd: Work same as 1st rnd of Metallic Band on Hat No. 788 (52 star sts). Join.

2nd rnd: Ch 2, * make 2 hdc in "eye" of each of next 2 star sts, 3 hdc in next "eye". Repeat from * (122 hdc). Join and end off.

With Belastraw work 5 rnds of sc, increasing 7 sc on each of 4 rnds and 8 sc in 5th rnd (158 sc). End off.

2nd Metallic Band: 1st rnd: Attach Metallic Yarn in any sc, ch 3, pull loop through 2nd ch from hook and through next ch, pull loop through same sc where yarn was attached and through next sc, complete a star st, * (pull loop through "eye" of last star st and another through back of last loop of same star st, pull loop through same sc where last loop of last star st was pulled through, pull loop through each of next 2 sc--6 loops on hook, complete a star st) twice; (pull loop through "eye" of last star st and another through back of last loop of same star st, pull loop through same sc where last loop of last star st was pulled through, pull loop through next sc--5 loops on hook, complete a star st) twice. Repeat from * (105 star sts). Join.

2nd rnd: Ch 2, work 2 hdc in each "eye" (210 hdc). Join and end off.

With Belastraw work 5 rnds of sc increasing 6 sc on each rnd (240 sc).

3rd Metallic Band: 1st rnd: Work same as 1st rnd of Metallic Band on Hat No. 788 (120 star sts). Join.

2nd rnd: Work 2 hdc in each "eye" (240 hdc). Join and end off.

With Belastraw work 2 rnds straight. End off. Press through a damp cloth.

End--(make 2): Ch 15.

1st rnd: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in 12 ch, 5 sc in last ch; then working along other side of starting chain make sc in 12 ch.

2nd rnd: Sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc (top of End), sc in 14 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in 13 sc.

3rd and 4th rnds: * Sc in each sc to center st of next 3-sc group, 3 sc in center sc. Repeat from * twice; sc in each remaining sc. Sl st in next sc, end off.

5th rnd: Attach yarn in 5th sc from center st of top of End, * sc in each sc to center st of next 3-sc group, 3 sc in center st. Repeat from * once, sc in each sc to corresponding position of start of this rnd. Sl st in next sc, end off.

Fold Bag piece in half. Pin Ends in place having bottoms of Ends at fold.

Join by working sc through both thicknesses. Work a rnd of sc along edge of top opening. Mount on DRITZ Bag Lining No. 774. Fasten DRITZ Ornamental Zipper Pull with a 4" chain.
