NOTE: Work with 3 strands of yarn throughout.

BODY: With Yellow starting at tail, ch 2, 2 s c in 2nd st from hook, ch 1 to turn all rows. 2nd ROW: 1 double loop st in each st (double loop st: insert hook in st, wind­ing yarn clockwise, wind yarn twice around index finger, insert hook from left to right through loops on finger, pick up both loops and pull through st, drop loop from finger, yo and pull through all loops on hook). 3rd ROW: 2 s c in each st. 4th ROW: 1 double loop st in each st. 5th ROW: 2 s c in 1st st, 1 s c in each of next 2 sts, 2 s c in last st. 6th ROW: 1 double loop st in each st. 7th ROW: 2 s c in 1st st, 1 s c in each st to within last st, 2 s c in last st. 8th ROW: Repeat 7th row. Repeat last row 5 times—20 sc. 14th ROW: 1 s c in each sc. Repeat last row 3 times. 18th ROW: Repeat 7th row—22 sc. 19th ROW: 1 s c in each s c. 20th ROW: Repeat 7th row. 21st ROW: 1 s c in each sc. 22nd and 23rd ROWS: Repeat 7th row—28 s c. With right side of work facing, attach Bongo at right side of mouth opening, 1 s c in same space, 1 s c in each of next 6 sts, 1 s c on side of opening, 1 sc in each s c—14 s c, join, ch 1, turn. 2nd ROW: 1 s c in each of next 7 s c, ch 1 to turn all rows. 3rd ROW: 1 s c in each sc. 4th ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row. 5th ROW: 1 sc in each sc. 6th ROW: Dec 1 st at beg and end of row, cut yarn. Attach Bongo at right side of under section of Beak and work 1 s c in each of next 7 s c, ch 1 to turn all rows. Repeat 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th rows of Beak once. NEXT ROW: * 2 s c in next s c, 1 sc in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, 1 s c in each of next 4 rows on side of Beak, 1 s c in next st, 1 s c in each of next 4 rows on upper side of Beak, repeat from * once, join, cut yarn.

RIGHT WING: Work 1st 8 rows of Left Wing. 9th ROW: Dec in 1st 2 sts, 1 s c in each of next 6 sts. 10th ROW: 1 double loop st in each st. 11th ROW: 1 s c in each st. 12th ROW: Repeat 10th row. 13th ROW: Dec in 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, 2 s c in last st. 14th ROW: Repeat 10th row. 15th ROW: 1 sc in each st. 16th ROW: Repeat 10th row. 17th ROW: 2 s c in 1st st, 1 s c in each of next 4 sts, dec in next 2 sts. 18th ROW: Repeat 10th row. 19th ROW: 1 sc in each st. 20th ROW: Repeat 10th row. 21st ROW: Dec in 1st 2 sts, 1 s c in each of next 3 sts, dec in next 2 sts. 22nd ROW: Repeat 10th row. 23rd ROW: Dec in 1st 2 sts, 1 s c in next st, dec in next 2 sts. 24th ROW: 1 double loop st in each st, cut yarn.

HAT: Wind National Blue into 3 balls. Work 1st 7 rounds in same manner as Head. NEXT ROUND: Work sl st around hat, cut yarn.

EYES: (Make 2). Wind Black 30 times over 1 inch cardboard. Slip off, tie in center, and cut both ends. Trim and sew in posi­tion as illustrated.

ASSEMBLING: Sew sides of neck section. Fill head and neck. Sew the two body sections tog leaving an opening for filling. Fill and sew opening closed. Sew head and wings to body as illustrated. Sew hat in position.
