2 skeins each of Shd. Lavenders, Shd. Roses and Shd. Greens
1 skein each of Lt. Pink, Rose Pink, Lt. Yellow and Dark Yellow and
3 skeins Lt. Blue. (Sufficient for 4 place mats).

2 balls each Shd. Lavenders, Shd. Peaches and Shd. Greens
1 ball each Beauty Pink, Beauty Rose, Yellow and Dk. Yellow, and
5-balls Baby Blue. (Sufficient for 4 place mats).
Crochet hook No. 12.
⅚ yd. Blue linen or Indian Head.

FLOWER–With Shd. Lavenders ch 8, join with sl st to form ring. ROW 1–Ch 3, 19 dc in ring, join to top of ch-3. Petal–* Ch 20, sk 1 ch, sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 8 ch, hdc in next 4 ch, sc in next 4 ch, sl st in next dc on center. Repeat from * 19 times. Fasten off. Center–With Dk. Yellow ch 2, 6 sc in 2d ch from hook. ROW 2–Without joining, (2 sc in back lp of next sc) 6 times. ROW 3–(Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) 6 times. ROW 4–(Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 6 times. ROW 5–Sc in 24 sc. Fasten off. Sew in center of Flower. Make a 2d Flower in same colors. Make 2 Flowers in Shd. Peaches (or Shd. Roses) with Shd. Greens centers. Make 1 Flower each in Beauty Pink (or Lt. Pink) with Shd. Lavenders Center, Beauty Rose (or Rose Pink) with Yellow Center. Yellow with Baby Blue Center, Dk. Yellow with Baby Blue Center, and Baby Blue with Beauty Rose (or Rose Pink) Center.

BUD–With Baby Blue ch 6, join with sl st to form ring. ROW 1–Ch 2, 10 hdc in ring, join with sl st in 1st hdc. Repeat Petals around (10). Fasten off. Fold across center. Make a Center in Beauty Rose (or Rose Pink), fold across center and sew over Row 1 of Bud. Stem–With Shd. Greens make a ch 2" long, sk 1 ch, sc in each remaining ch. Fasten off. Make a 2d Bud in Lt. Yellow with Baby Blue Center and a 3d in Beauty Pink (or Lt. Pink) with Shd. Lavender Center.

SMALL LEAF–With Shd. Greens ch 25, ** 3 tr in 6th ch from hook, ch 4, sl st in last tr for a p, 3 tr in same st with last tr, ch 4, sl st in same st, * sl st in next ch, ch 9 and repeat from ** to *, sl st in next 3 ch, ch 7 and repeat from ** to *, sl st in next ch, ** sl st in each ch of stem. Fasten off. Make 3.

LARGE LEAF–Ch 30 and repeat from ** to **, sl st in next 8 ch, ch 17, repeat from ** to **, sl st in next 10 ch, ch 15, repeat from ** to **, sl st in next 8-ch, sl st in each st of stem. Fasten off. Make 6.

Cut a 14½ inch circle of cloth. BORDER–With Baby Blue (ch 7, dc in 7th ch from hook) repeated for distance around cloth ½ inch inside edge. With row untwisted, join. ROW 2–Ch 3, * 4 dc in next dc-sp, dc between sps, 2 dc in next sp, ch 20, sl st in last dc, 2 dc in same sp, dc between sps, 4 dc in next sp, dc between sps, ch 20, sl st in last dc, dc in same place with last dc. Repeat from * around. Join to top of ch-3. Fasten off. ROW 3–Join to one ch-20 lp, 3 sc in same lp, ch 5, sl st in last sc for a p, 2 sc in same lp, (ch 8, 3 sc, p, and 2 sc in next lp) repeated around. Join with ch 4, tr in 1st sc. ROW 4–(Ch 12, sc in next ch-8 lp) repeated around. Join. ROW 5–Sl st to 5th st of next lp, 3 sc, p, 2 sc in same lp, (ch 12, 3 sc, p, 2 sc in next ch-8 lp) repeated around. Join. Fasten off. ROW 6–Join to one ch-12 lp, ch 27, remove hook, insert it back in 21st ch from hook, catch lp and pull thru, forming a ring out to left of ch, ch 1, (12 sc, p, 12 sc) in ring, * sl st at base of ring, ch 6, sc in next lp, ch 27, form a ring as before in 21st ch from hook, ch 1, 6 sc in ring, ch 2, sl st back in 6th sc up side of previous ring, ch 2, sl st back in last sc, 6 sc, p and 12 sc in bal. of ring. Repeat from * around. Join 1st and last rings with a connecting p. Fasten off. Hem inner edge of Row 2 down around cloth circle ¼ inch from edge. Tack down each ch-lp in Row 1. Turn edge of cloth back against crochet and hem down on back of dc-row. Arrange Flowers and Leaves in a close circle in center of cloth, following illustration, and hem down. Stretch and pin doily right-side-down in a true circle. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.
