Bone ring.

SHELL . . . With Beauty Pink, ch 17 to measure 1 ¾ inches. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd to 6th rows incl: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. 7th row: 2 sc in first sc, * sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last sc. Ch 3, turn. 8th row: 2 dc in first sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc, skip next sc, * 3 dc in next sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with 3 dc in last sc. Ch 3, turn. 9th row: 2 dc in center dc of first group, * ch 1, 3 dc in center dc of next group. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 10th row: Skip first dc, dc in next 2 dc, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next group. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 11th row: Skip first dc, dc in next 2 dc, * ch 1, 2 dc in first dc of next dc group (an inc made), dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc (another inc made). Repeat from * across, ending with ch 1, dc in each dc of last dc group, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 12th row: Skip first dc, dc in next 2 dc, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat from * across, ending with dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 13th row: Skip first dc, dc in next 2 dc, * ch 1, dc in each dc, increasing 1 dc at both ends of next dc group. Repeat from * across, ending with 3 dc over last dc group. Ch 3, turn. 14th and 15th rows: Repeat 12th and 13th rows once more. 16th, 17th and 18th rows: Repeat 12th row. 19th row: Skip first dc, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in next 2 dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (dc cluster made), * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat from * across to within last dc group, ch 1, make a dc cluster over first 2 dc of last group, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 2, turn. 20th row: Skip first dc, dc in top of cluster, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat from * across to within last 2 sts, ch 1, make a cluster over last 2 sts. Ch 1. turn. 21st row: Sl st in top of cluster, ch 1, make a cluster over first 2 dc of next dc group, dc in each remaining dc of same group, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat from * across to within last 2 dc on last dc group, make a cluster. Ch 3, turn. 22nd row: Skip first cluster, dc in each dc, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat from * across, ending with a dc in top of cluster. Ch 3, turn. 23rd row: Skip first dc, make a cluster over next 2 sts, dc in each remaining dc of same group, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat from * across to within last 2 sts, make a cluster. Ch 3, turn. 24th row: Repeat 22nd row. 25th row: Repeat 23rd row. 26th row: Skip first dc, make a 3-dc cluster over next 3 dc, * ch 1, dc in each dc of next dc group. Repeat from * across to within last 4 sts, make a 4-dc cluster. Ch 1, turn. 27th row: Sl st in first cluster, ch 1, sc in first dc of next dc group, half dc in next dc, dc in next dc, tr in next 3 dc, dc in next dc, half dc in next dc, sc in next dc, (ch 1, half dc in first dc of next dc group, dc in next dc, tr in next dc, d tr in next 3 dc, tr in next dc, dc in next dc, half dc in next dc) twice; ch 1, sc in first dc of next dc group, half dc in next dc, dc in next dc, tr in next 3 dc, dc in next dc, half dc in next dc, sc in last dc of group, ch 1, sl st in top of cluster of next dc group. Break off. Fasten ends securely.

TRIMMING . . . With White, ch 15 to measure 1 ½ inches. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across, ch 37 to measure 3 ¾ inches. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, half dc in each ch across, skip first sc on 2nd row, sl st in next sc on same row; ch 50 to measure 4 ¾ inches, work across chain as before; skip 1 sc on 2nd row, sl st in next sc, (ch 47 to measure 4 ½ inches, complete as for other chains) 3 times. Make two more chains, one measuring 4 ¾ inches and the other 3 ¾ inches. Break off. Sew trimming in place as illustrated. Make another piece the same way.

EDGING . . . 1st rnd: With wrong sides facing and working through both thicknesses, attach White to any corner at top, make 3 sc in same place, sc closely around entire pot holder, making 3 sc in opposite corner. Join with sl st to first sc. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 1, sc in each sc, making 3 sc in center sc of each 3-sc group. Join and break off at end of 3rd rnd. With White sc closely around bone ring. Sew in place.
