Steel crochet hooks No. 2 and No. 1

Rnd 1—Starting at a point, with No. 2 hook work sc evenly around top row of basket. Rnd 2—Sc, inc or dec so that there are about 16 sc on each side of hexagon (95 sts around). Sl st in 1st sc. Change to No. 1 hook. Rnd 3—* Ch 3, skip 1 st, sc in next st. Repeat from * around ending with ch 3, sc in 1st loop (48 loops). Rnd 4—Ch 3, sc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Repeat rnd 3 until 6" from basket, ending directly over a point. Beading—Ch 4, tr in same space, * ch 3, skip 1 space, 2 tr in next space. Repeat from * around joining last ch-3 with sl st to top of starting ch-4. Next rnd—Sc before next tr, turn, ch 3, skip next st, * sc in next space, ch 3, sc be­tween next 2 tr, ch 3. Repeat from * around (48 loops). Work 3 more rnds of loops ending above point.

EDGING—Rnd 1—(Ch 3, sc in next loop), twice; * skip next loop, 13 tr in next loop—shell made—skip next loop, sc in next loop, (ch 3, sc in next loop) 4 times; repeat from * around, ending with (ch 3, sc in next loop) 3 times. Rnd 2—Sc in next loop, * tr in next tr, ch 3, sl st in last st—picot made. Work tr and picot in each tr to center of shell, in center tr make 3 tr with picots between; continue work­ing tr and picot to end of shell, skip next loop, sc in next 3 loops, skip next loop. Repeat from * around. Join and end off.

Finishing—Attach straw to rnd 2 of bag. Work in sts between loops as follows: Sc in 1st space, * in next space work 4 dc with picot between; sc in next space. Repeat from * around. Join and end off. Run drawstrings through beading. Knot ends of each string together, careful not to twist.
