Monogram Guest Towel Decorative Crochet Pattern TW360

MATERIALS:
J. & P. Coats Tatting-Crochet, Size 70: 1 ball of No. 157 Blended Royal and Yellow, and 1 ball of No. 8 Blue.
J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5: 1 ball of No. 11 Orange.
Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 14.
A pink guest towel.

   Make a sketch of letters desired for monogram having long bar 1½ inches high.

INITIAL ... With Blended Royal and Yellow, make a chain slightly longer than strip desired. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Break off.
   Pin sketch to towel. Sew initials in place over sketch.

GARLAND—First Flower ... With Blue, ch 4, dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, sc in same ch, (ch 3, dc in same ch as last dc, ch 3, sc in same ch) 3 times. Break off.

SECOND FLOWER ... Ch 4, dc in 4th ch from hook, sl st in any dc on First Flower, ch 3, sc in same ch on Second Flower. Complete as for First Flower. Continue making flowers in this manner leaving one petal free on each side, until piece is long enough to go around monogram. Join last flower to first flower. Sew Garland in place. With Orange Pearl Cotton make a French knot in center of each flower.

EDGING ... Make a strip of flowers as for Garland for desired length.

HEADING ... With right side of work facing, attach Blended Royal and Yellow to tip of first free petal at top of strip, sc in same place, * ch 7, sc in tip of next free petal. Repeat from * across. Break off.

SCALLOPED EDGE ... 1st row: With wrong side of work facing, attach Blended Royal and Yellow to tip of first free petal at bottom of strip, sc in same place, * ch 10, sc in tip of next free petal. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: In each loop across make (3 sc, ch 3) 3 times and 3 sc. Break off.
   Make an Orange French knot in cen­ter of flowers. Make Edging for oppo­site end of towel in same way. Sew Edgings to towel.
