J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5: 6 balls of No. 46-A Mid Rose, 4 balls of No. 48 Hunter's Green and 1 ball of No. 11 Orange, or
J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen: 2 balls each of No. 46-A Mid Rose and No. 48 Hunter's Green, 1 ball of No. 43 Dk. Yellow, and
J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, Size 30:
Small Ball: J. & P. Coats—1 ball each of No. 46-A Mid Rose and No. 43 Dk. Yellow, and
Big Ball: J. & P. Coats—1 ball of No. 48 Hunter's Green, or
Small Ball: Clark's O.N.T.—1 ball each of No. 46-A Mid Rose, No. 43 Dk. Yellow and 1 ball of No. 48 Hunter's Green.
Milward's Steel Crochet Hooks No. 7 and 10.
A blue bath towel, hand towel and washcloth.

LARGE POINSETTIA — Center (Make 3) ... Using Orange and No. 7 hook, ch 2. 1st rnd: 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. Hereafter pick up back loop of each st around. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in first sc, * 5 dc in next sc, drop loop from hook, insert hook in first dc made and draw dropped loop through (pc st made), 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join. 3rd rnd: Sc in each sc and in each pc st around. Join. 4th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, sc in next sc, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join. 5th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * pc st in next sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

LARGE PETAL (Make 13) ... Starting at center with Rose Pearl Cot­ton or Knit-Cro-Sheen and No. 7 hook, ch 36. 1st rnd: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, half dc in next 2 ch, dc in next 3 ch, tr in next 23 ch, dc in next 3 ch, half dc in next 2 ch, 3 sc in next ch; work along opposite side of starting chain to correspond, ending with 2 sc in last ch. Join. 2nd rnd: Sl st in next 5 sts, * sc in next tr, half dc in next tr, dc in next 19 tr, half dc in next tr, sc in next tr, sl st in next 13 sts. Repeat from * once more, end­ing with sc in last tr, sl st in next st. Break off.

MEDIUM PETAL (Make 11) ... Starting at center with Rose, ch 30. 1st rnd: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, half dc in next 2 ch, dc in next 23 ch, half dc in next 2 ch, 3 sc in next ch; work along opposite side of starting chain to correspond, ending with 2 sc in last ch. Join. 2nd rnd: Sl st in next 3 sts, * sc in next st, half dc in next st, dc in next 18 sts, half dc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in next 7 sts. Repeat from * once more, ending with sc. Join and break off.

SMALL PETAL (Make 11) ... Starting at center with Rose, ch 25. 1st rnd: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, half dc in next 2 ch, dc in next 2 ch, tr in next 14 ch, dc in next 2 ch, half dc in next 2 ch, 3 sc in last ch. Work along opposite side of starting chain to correspond, making 2 sc in last ch. Join and break off.

LEAF (Make 5) ... Starting at center with Green, ch 26. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch; working along opposite side of starting chain make sc in each ch across to within last 8 ch, half dc in next 2 ch, dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch. Ch 3, turn. Hereafter pick up back loop only. 2nd to 8th rows incl: Sc in each st across to center sc of 3-sc group, 3 sc in center sc, sc in each remaining sc to within last 8 sc, half dc in next 2 sts, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Ch 3, turn. 9th row: Sc in each st to center sc of 3-sc group, in center sc make sc, half dc, dc, half dc, and sc, sl st in next st. Break off.

STEM ... With 4 strands of Green make a chain 15 inches long. Break off.
   Sew Petals and Centers in place to form 2 Poinsettias on bath towel. Sew Stem and 3 Leaves in place as illus­trated. Sew remaining center, petals and 2 leaves to hand towel as illus­trated.
   Using Size 30 and No. 10 hook, work as for Large Poinsettia making 1 Center, 4 Large Petals, 3 Small Petals, and 2 Leaves. Using 4 strands of Green make a chain 5 inches long. Sew flower to washcloth as illustrated.
