Wider Crochet Edging Pattern #8410
Edging is made of individual shamrocks and rosettes, joined while working.
Shamrock … Starting at center, ch 6, join with sl st. 1st rnd: * Ch 12, s c in ring. Repeat from * 2 more times. Ch 8 (this is stem). 2nd rnd: Working over a cord (or 4 strands of same thread), s c in 2nd ch from hook and in each of 6 remaining ch of stem; s c in ring. Still working over cord, make 18 s c in each of 3 loops of shamrock, s c in ring. Cut off cord and, working along opposite side of foundation chain, sl st in each ch across. Fasten off.
Rosette … Ch 6, join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 5, * d c in ring, ch 2. Repeat from * 4 more times. Join to 3rd st of ch-5 first made. 2nd rnd: In each sp make s c, half d c, 2 d c, half d c, s c (6 petals). 3rd rnd: Sl st to tip of 1st petal, * ch 5, s c in 3rd st from hook (p). Repeat from * once more, ch 2, s c at tip of next petal (1 p-loop completed). Make 4 more p-loops, ch 2, ch-3 p, ch 1, sl st at tip of 1 leaf at side of shamrock, ch 1, ch-3 p; complete loop as before. Fasten off.
Make necessary number of shamrocks. Now make rosettes, joining opposite loops of shamrocks and ending with rosette (see illustration). Fasten off.
Attach thread between p's of 1st free loop on 1st rosette and work as follows: 1st row: * Ch 6, s c between p's of next loop, ch 6, tr in center s c of leaf at side of shamrock—between stem and adjacent rosette; ch 3, s c at tip of stem. Work in corresponding manner to p's of 2nd free loop of next rosette. Repeat from * across. 2nd row: * Ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in next s c, ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in next tr, ch 5, s c at stem tip, ch 5, s c in next tr, ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in next s c, ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in next s c. Repeat from *. Fasten off.
