Luncheon Set Pattern #8199
Materials:
For tray mat, ⅓ yd. linen, 36 in. wide.
For luncheon set, 1 yd. linen, 36 in. wide.
First Flowerette … Starting at center, ch 6, join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 6, * d c in ring, ch 3. Repeat from * 3 more times. Join to 3rd st of ch-6 first made. 2nd rnd: In each sp make: s c, half d c, 3 d c, half d c, s c (5 petals). 3rd rnd: Sl st to half d c of next petal, s c in next d c, * ch 8, s c in 3rd st from hook (p); ch 2, skip 1 d c, s c in next d c (a p-loop); make another p-loop, s c in 1st d c of next petal. Repeat from * around, ending with sl st in 1st s c made (10 p-loops). Now work in rows. 1st, 2nd and 3rd rows: Ch 4, p, ch 4, p, ch 2, s c in next loop, ch 5, p, ch 2, s c in next loop; turn. Fasten off.
Second Flowerette … Work as for 1st flowerette to within last row. Last row: Ch 4, p, ch 2, s c in 3rd free loop of 1st flowerette (between 2 solid petals), ch 2, p, ch 2, s c in next loop on 2nd flowerette, ch 3, s c in next loop on 1st flowerette, ch 2, p, ch 2, s c in next loop on second flowerette. Fasten off.
Make flowerettes for desired length (allow for turn at corners). Now work only 1st 3 rnds of flowerette, attaching 2 loops of 3rd rnd to 2 loops of last row of 1st flowerette as before.
Heading …Work along side with 2 free loops on 3rd rnd of each flowerette; attach thread to 2nd free loop on 1st flowerette. 1st row: * Ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in next loop (on 1st row), ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in next free loop. Repeat from *. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: * Skip 2 sts, d c in next st, ch 2. Repeat from *. Fasten off.
Scalloped Edge … With wrong side of work toward you, attach thread to 4th free loop on 3rd rnd of 1st flowerette. 1st row: * Ch 7, s c in next loop. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: 8 s c in each loop. Fasten off.
For tray mat, cut linen 10 x 16 inches; make narrow hem all around, and sew lace on neatly.
For luncheon set, make 4 place mats as for tray mat; for center mat, cut linen 16 x 34 inches and finish in same way.
