Clockhouse Pot Holder Pattern

LILY DOUBLE QUICK Mercerized Crochet Cotton, Art. 50: 1 skein Aqua, ¼ skein Cream and a few yards Flamingo.

1 skein Lily Six Strand Floss in Dk. Green.

No. 3 Steel Crochet Hook.

Starting at top with Aqua, ch 20, join with sl st to form ring; ch 1, sc in 19 ch of ring, sl st in sl st, ch 1, sc in same st.

HOUSE: Ch 2, turn, 3 sc in sc.

ROW 2: Ch 2, turn, 2 sc in 1st sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in last sc.

ROW 3: Ch 2, turn, 2 sc in 1st sc, sc in each sc across with 2 sc in last sc. Repeat Row 3 thru Row 22 (45 sc in last row).

ROW 23: Ch 1, turn, sl st in 1st 3 sc, ch 1, sc in next 39 sc.

ROW 24: * Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st 2 sc worked off as 1 sc (a decrease), sc across with a dec. in last 2 sc.

ROW 25: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc. Repeat Row 25 three times. Repeat from * 4 times and Rows 24 and 25 again (50 rows). Fasten off.

EDGE: Attach Cream to 1st sc of last row, (ch 2, sk 1 st, sc in next st) repeated around, with an extra lp at corners; join and fasten off.

CLOCK: Starting in center with Cream, ch 2.

RND 1: 6 sc in 2d ch from hook. Do not join rnds. Mark end of rnds.

RND 2: 2 sc in each sc (12 sc).

RND 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc (1 sc increased); repeat from * around (18 sc).

RND 4: Sc in each sc, increasing 6 sc evenly around. Repeat Rnd 4 thru Rnd 10 (60 sc in last rnd). Sl st in next sc, fasten off.

RND 11: With circle wrong-side-up, attach Flamingo, (sc in next 4 sc, a long sc at base of next sc 2 rows below) 12 times; fasten off.

HANDS: With Flamingo, ch 12, * sk 4 ch, sl st in bal. of chain; * ch 9, repeat from * to *. Fasten off. Sew on Clock. Sew Clock on House ¾ inch from bottom edge.

FLOWER: With Flamingo, ch 8, sl st in 8th ch from hook (center st); (ch 7, sl st in center st) 4 times. Fasten off. Make 7. Sew 5 around top of House and 1 in each lower corner. Make a Cream French Knot in flower cen­ters. With Green Floss, embroider Lazy Daisy leaves around Flowers as shown. Steam and press dry on back thru a cloth. Line back with muslin.
