Tailored Frills Collar Pattern #2297

Materials: Choose one of the following threads in size 50:
Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet, 1 ball of White or Ecru, or 2 balls of any color.
J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, 1 ball of White, Ecru, or any color.
J. & P. Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, 1 ball of White or Ecru.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 12.
A strip of organdy 14½ x 2½ inches.

Fold organdy so that strip measures 7¼ x 1¼ inches. Machine stitch around three sides, curving the lower edge. Turn inside out, turn in top ends, and slip stitch together. 1st row: Attach thread about ½ inch down from straight edge (straight edge is top edge of jabot), and work a row of s c, ⅛ inch apart from each other, all around edges to corresponding position at opposite side of jabot. Ch 6, turn. 2nd row: * S c in next s c, ch 6. Repeat from * across. Ch 7, turn. 3rd to 9th rows incl: Repeat 2nd row, increasing 1 ch in each loop in each row (13 ch in last row). Break off.

First Frill. Attach thread to last s c made in 1st row. Ch 23, s c in 1st s c made in 1st row, ch 6, turn. 1st row: * S c in ch-23 loop, ch 6. Repeat from * until there are 24 ch-6 loops, sl st in last ch of ch-23. Ch 7, turn. 2nd row: S c in 1st loop, * ch 7, s c in next loop. Repeat from * across. Ch 8, turn. 3rd to 9th rows incl: Same as 3rd to 9th rows incl. of jabot. Break off.

Make another frill as before, 2 inches down from first frill, but make 19 loops in 1st loop row (instead of 23 loops). Then make a third frill, 2 inches down from second frill, having 17 chain loops instead of 19 loops. Break off.
