Colony Collar Pattern #2302

Materials: J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 1 ball.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 3.

Starting at lower edge, make a chain tightly to measure about 16 inches. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook, s c in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. Hereafter pick up only the back loop of each s c. 2nd row: S c in each s c across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures ¾ inch. Then, on next row, make s c in each of 2 s c, ch 8, skip 8 s c, s c in each s c across (thus a buttonloop is made). Continue as before, making s c in back loop of each s c until piece measures 1½ inches. Do not break off, but work along short side as follows:

1st row: * Pull loop on hook out 1 inch, thread over hook, draw through loop, ch 1 to fasten (thus a loop st is made); s c in next row. Repeat from * across (15 loops). Make a loop st 1½ inches long to turn. 2nd row: * S c in next loop, make 1 loop st. Repeat from * across. Repeat 2nd row for 5 inches. Break off. Attach thread at opposite side, and work to correspond.
