EDGING No. 8215-A … Two-color edging—suggest Sport Green and Autumn Glow. With dark color make hairpin lace for desired length. Do not fasten off, but ch 6, * insert hook through each of next 4 loops (taking care to keep twist of loops throughout) and make an s c, ch 4. Repeat from * across, ending with s c. Fasten off. Next row: Attach light color to 3rd ch of ch-6 first made, 3 s c in ch-6 sp, * s c in next s c, 5 s c in next ch-4 sp. Repeat from * across, ending with s c in s c. Ch 4 (to count as d c and ch-1), turn. Following row: * Skip next s c, d c in next s c, ch 1. Repeat from * across. Fasten off. This completes straight edge. Work along loops at opposite side as follows: 1st row: Attach light color to 1st 4 loops (keeping twist as before) and make s c; * draw loop on hook out ¼ inch, draw thread through, making a ch st of it; insert hook between loop and single thread of this ch and make an s c (a knot st made); make another knot st, insert hook through next 4 loops and make an s c. Repeat from * across. Ch 2, turn. 2nd row: S c under 2 loops of 1st knot st, s c under 2 loops of next knot st, * ch 10, s c under 2 loops of each of next 2 knot sts, ch 3, s c in each of next 2 knot sts. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 10, s c under each of next 2 knot sts. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: * 15 s c in ch-10 loop, ch 2, s c under ch-3, ch 2. Repeat from * across, ending with sl st in last knot st. Fasten off.
