Edging #8840 Pattern

Smart linens become so precious looking edged with filet lace.

Ch 39. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next 16 ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next 4 ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, dc in next 7 ch. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: Skip 2 dc, dc in next 4 dc (bl over bl made), 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc (bl over sp made), ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc (sp over bl made); make 1 bl, 1 sp, 3 bls, 1 sp, 1 bl, ch 2, make a foundation dc in top of turning ch as follows: Thread over, insert hook in ch and pull loop through, thread over and draw through 1 loop on hook—ch st made to be used as a foundation st for next dc; (thread over and draw through 2 loops) twice— foundation dc completed. * Thread over, insert hook in specified ch st and complete another foundation dc as before. Repeat from * once more; then thread over, insert hook in ch at base of last foundation dc made and make 1 dc in usual way (1 bl increased). Ch 5, turn. 3rd row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next ch, dc in next dc (1 bl increased), make 1 sp, ch 2, dc in next dc (sp over sp made), make (1 sp, 1 bl) 3 times; 1 sp, 3 bls, dc in next 3 ch. Ch 5, turn. 4th and 5th rows: Follow chart. Ch 5, turn. 6th row: Follow chart across to last bl, do not work over last bl (1 bl decreased). Turn. 7th row: Sl st across 1st bl (1 bl decreased), ch 3 and follow chart across. Ch 3, turn. Now follow chart to top. Then repeat chart for length desired. Fasten off.
