Potholder Hanger Pattern #3201

Materials Required—
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"STAR" PEARL COTTON, SIZE 5
2 60-yd. Balls Red
3 Small Hooks, 1 piece Wood 7 inches long, ¾ inch wide and ¼ inch thick, 1 one inch Ring.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7 or 8.

Ch 25 and work 24 s c on ch.
2nd Row—Ch 3, turn, (the ch 3 counts as 1 d c) 1 s c in next s c, * 1 d c in next s c, 1 s c in next s c, repeat from * to end of row, turn.
3rd Row—1 s c in next d c, * 1 d c in next s c, 1 s c in next d c, repeat from * to end of row, turn. Continue working same as 3rd row until work is long enough to cover wood. Then work 1 row of s c, fold lengthwise and crochet one end together with one row of s c, break thread. Attach thread at top and crochet long side together, insert wood and crochet end together. Then work 1 row of shells on 2 short sides and across top (shell: ch 3, 2 d c in same space, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c) break thread.
STRAPS. Ch 9, work 8 s c on ch.
2nd Row—Ch 3, turn, 1 s c in next s c, * 1 d c in next s c, 1 s c in next s c, repeat from * to end of row.
3rd Row—Ch 3 turn, 1 s c in d c, * 1 d c in s c, 1 s c in d c, repeat from * to end of row. Repeat 3rd row until work measures 6 inches, break thread and make another strap.
Work s c over bone ring. Sew one short end of straps together half way across, then sew ring in position. Sew other ends of straps to rack, and screw hooks in position.
