With White, beginning at neck, ch 227. 1st row: S c in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (226 s c in all). Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: Skip 1 s c, tr in each of next 2 s c, * ch 3, skip 2 s c, tr in each of next 2 s c, repeat from * across (56 tr groups), ending with ch 3, tr in last s c. Break off. 3rd row: Attach color 8 Blue to ch-3, ch 4, tr under same ch-3, ch 3, 2 tr in same place (this is a shell), * ch 5, d c in next ch-3 sp, ch 5, 2 tr in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, 2 tr in same place, repeat from * across, ending row with the group of 2 tr, ch 3, 2 tr between the last tr and ch-4. Break off. 4th row: Attach White to ch-3 (center) of 1st shell, ch 4, tr in same place; ch 3, 2 tr in same place (thus making shell over shell), * ch 5, d c in next sp, ch 5, d c in next sp, ch 5, shell over next shell, and repeat from * across, ending row with shell over last shell. Break off. 5th row: Attach China Blue and work as in 4th row, making shell over shell, d c in each ch-5 sp making ch 5 between d c's (thus having 4 ch-5 sps between shells instead of 3 as in 4th row). Break off. 6th row: With White, work as for 5th row, having 5 ch-5 sps between shells. Break off. 7th row: With Blue, work as for 6th row, having 6 ch-5 sps between shells. Break off. 9th row: With China Blue, work as for 8th row, but making 2 d c in each ch-5 sp (instead of the usual 1 d c), and having 8 ch-5 sps between shells. Ch 1, turn. 10th row: S c in 1st tr, a ch-5 p, ch 2, s c in ch-3 sp of same shell, 1 p, s c in same sp, ** ch 2, s c between next 2 tr of same shell, 1 p, s c in same place, * ch 2, s c in ch-5 sp, 1 p, s c in same place, ch 2, s c between next 2 d c, 1 p, s c in same place and repeat from * 6 more times.
