Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet, 2 balls size 30, color 165 Pastels. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 9.

Ch 179 loosely. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in each of next 2 sts, 2 d c in next, and repeat for length of ch, making 1 d c in each of next 3 sts and 2 d c in every 4th st (225 d c). Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: D c in next d c, * 2 d c in next, d c in each of next 2 d c, and repeat from * to end of row (299 d c). 3rd row: * Ch 4, skip 3 d c, s c in next and repeat from * to end of row (75 ch-loops). 4th row: Ch 5, s c in 1st ch loop, * ch 5, s c in next ch loop, and repeat from * to end of row. 5th row: Ch 6, s c in 1st loop, ch 6, s c in next loop, and make 3 more ch-6 loops, ch 11, skip 1 loop, s c in next loop. * Make 7 ch-6 loops across, then ch 11, skip 1 loop, s c in next loop. Repeat from * across, ending row with 5 ch-6 loops. 6th row: Ch 6, s c in 1st loop, make 4 more ch-6 loops, * ch 6, d c in center st of ch-11, ch 5, d c in same st (this starts the diamond motif), ch 6, s c in next loop, make 6 ch-6 loops and repeat from * ending row with 4 ch-6 loops. 7th row: Ch 6, s c in 1st loop, make 3 ch-6 loops, * ch 7, d c in d c, ch 2, d c in center st of ch-5, ch 5, d c in same st, ch 2, d c in d c, ch 7, s c in next loop, make 5 ch-6 loops, and repeat from * across. 8th to 11th rows incl: Continue as for 7th row, making 1 ch-6 loop less in loop sections in each row and increasing 1 ch st in the long open chains in each row, and working sp over sp for diamond motif, (at end of 11th row, 1 loop will remain in each loop section). 12th row: Ch 6, s c in loop, ch 6, s c in next loop, ch 12, work sp over sp for diamond motif. * ch 12, s c in ch-6 loop, ch 12, sp over sp for diamond motif, and repeat from * ending row with 1 ch-6 loop. 13th row: Ch 6, s c in 1st loop, then ch 13, sp over sp, ch 11, d c in s c, ch 11, sp over sp, and finish row ending with ch-13 and 1 ch-6 loop. 14th row: Ch 6, s c in loop, ch 13, * sp over sp, ch 10, d c in d c, ch 10, and repeat from * across ending with ch-13, 1 s c in s c, and 1 ch-6 loop. 15th row: Ch 6, s c in loop, ch 13, sp over sp, * ch 9, d c in d c, ch 9, sp over sp, and complete row with ch-13, s c in s c and ch-6 loop. Break off thread.

Finish at Neck Edge: Attach thread at 1st d c, * ch 5, skip 3 sts, s c in next and repeat from * to end of row. Ch 5, turn. Make 2 more rows of ch-5 loops. Fasten collar with a snap fastener.
