Doily with Two Colored Mesh Edging Pattern

Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercer­ized Crochet Size 50, White and any Boilfast color desired. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 10 or 11. Linen for center.

This edging is worked in rows and when sufficient has been made, an inner rnd of sps is worked along inner edge.

Begin with color, ch 26, turn, tr in 8th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1, tr in next, repeat from * to end (10 sps in row). 2nd row: Turn, ch 5, tr in next tr, tr in each tr with ch-1 between (last tr is made in 4th st of ch). Fasten off color. 3rd row: Tie white thread to opposite end in 4th st of ch. Ch 6, skip 1 tr, d c in next, * ch 3, skip 1 tr, d c in next, and repeat from * to end (5 sps in row). 4th row: Turn, ch 7, tr in next d c, * ch 3, tr in next d c, and repeat from * to end of row (last tr is made on turning ch).

5th row: Turn, ch 5, d c in next tr, * ch 3, d c in next tr, and repeat from *. 6th and 7th rows: Same as 4th and 5th rows. Fasten off white thread and tie colored thread to this same end. 8th row: Ch 5, tr in ch-3 sp, * ch 1, tr in d c, ch 1, tr in ch-3 sp, and repeat from * across. 9th row: Same as 2nd row. Repeat the pattern until the length is sufficient, end­ing with a repetition of the 7th row. Overhand ends neatly together, then work along inner edge as fol­lows: Attach white and make d tr in top of end of each row, making ch-2 between each d tr at end of tr rows, and ch-1 between at end of d c rows. Join and fasten off. Finish edge of linen and whip cro­cheted edge in place.
