Materials: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercer­ized Crochet Size 80. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 12. Size 6 inches in diameter.

Begin at center. Ch 5, join in a ring. 1st rnd: Ch 8, * d tr (thread over 3 times) in ring, ch 4, and repeat from * 10 more times (12 d tr in all counting start­ing ch), join with sl st to 5th st of ch-8 first made. 2nd rnd: Ch 9, d tr in each d tr with ch-3 between. Join with sl st to 5th st of starting ch. 3rd rnd: Ch 8, * d tr in center of ch-4 of preceding rnd, ch 3, d tr in next d tr, ch 3, and repeat from * around. 4th rnd: Ch 9, d tr in each d tr with ch-4 between. Join to starting ch. 5th rnd: Ch 5. * over ch-4 work 6 d tr, d tr in next d tr, ch 5, d tr in next d tr, ch 5, d tr in next d tr, and repeat from *. Then ch 5, and join to starting ch. 6th rnd: Ch 6. * skip 1 d tr, d tr in next, ch 1, and make a d tr with ch-1 between in every other d tr of group of previous rnd. Ch 6, d tr in next d tr, ch 6, d tr in next, ch 1, and repeat from * to end of rnd. Ch 6, join.

7th rnd: Ch 5, * d tr in each ch and each d tr until 11 d tr have been made (counting ch-5 as 1st d tr), ch 7, d tr in next d tr, ch 7, and d tr in next d tr, and repeat from *. Join. 8th rnd: Ch 6 (to count as d tr and ch 1). Make d tr in every 2nd st of preceding rnd with ch-1 between. Join. 9th rnd: Ch 10, * skip 2 d tr (count d tr from which ch started) and make d tr over next ch-1, ch 5, skip 2 d tr, d tr over next ch-1, ch 5, skip 2 d tr, d tr over next ch-1, then d tr in each d tr and over each ch-1 until there are 15 d tr in group. Ch 5, and repeat from *. In last group, make only 14 d tr, and join to 5th st of starting ch which is counted as d tr.

10th rnd: Ch 11, * d tr in next d tr, ch 6, d tr in next, ch 6, d tr in next, ch 1, d tr in every 2nd st of group, always with ch-1 between, ch 6, and repeat from *. Join. 11th rnd: Ch 12, * d tr in next d tr, ch 7, d tr in next, ch 7, d tr in each ch and each d tr (15 d tr in group), ch 7, and repeat from *. Join. 12th rnd: Ch 15, * d c in next d tr, ch 12, d c in next d tr, ch 12, d c with ch-1 between in every other d tr of 15 d tr group (8 d c), ch 12, and repeat from *. Fasten off thread.
