With Green, ch 62, turn. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in each ch across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: S c in each d c. Break off. 3rd row: Attach Orange, ch 3, d c in each s c, ch 1, turn. 4th row: S c in each d c. Break off. Repeat the last 2 rows, changing colors after every s c row, working colors in following order: Work with Yellow, then Brown. These 4 colors constitute pattern. Continue working thus, repeating these 4 colors 2 more times. Then work with Green, then Orange, then Yellow. Break off. Hereafter work around this square as follows: 1st rnd: Attach Brown to 5th s c of last row, ch 3 (to count as d c), d c in each s c across, making 3 d c in 2nd s c from end (thus increasing 2 sts), 1 dc in last s c, 3 d c in end of same row along other side of work,  * 2 d c under next d c, d c in next s c, repeat from * across (work should lie perfectly flat, if not increase a few sts), working 3 d c in last d c, 1 d c at corner, 3 d c in next d c along other side of work, d c between each d c across, work corner as before and continue thus around. Join last d c with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3. 2nd rnd: Make s c in each d c all around. 3rd rnd: Ch 3, d c in each s c of previous rnd, increasing directly over each corner increase as in 1st rnd. Join. 4th rnd: S c in each d c. Join with sl st and break off. Repeat the last 2 rnds, changing colors at end of every s c rnd, working colors in following order: Work with Green, then Orange, then Yellow, then Brown. Do not break off, but work 2 more rnds in Brown. Join and break off. This completes one side of bag. Make the other side same as this. Join pieces, leaving open across one side and the corner on both sides.

Handle Straps. With Orange, ch 150, turn. 1st rnd: S c in 2nd ch from hook and in each st of foundation ch, then work s c in each s c along other side of ch. Join and break off. 2nd rnd: Attach Green, and work s c in each s c of previous rnd, increasing at each end so that work lies flat. Join and break off. Repeat 2nd rnd using Yellow, then Brown. Make another strap same as this. Cut buckram to shape and size of bag allowing for seams, and sew to bag along edges. Then line with lining material. Sew straps to bag as in illustration.
