MATERIALS: Use one of the following threads:
J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 28 balls of White or Ecru, or 34 balls of any color.
Clark's O.N.T. Lustersheen, 21 skeins of White or Ecru, or 28 skeins of any color.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 7.

GAUGE: 3 sps make 1¼ inches; 3 rows make 1¼ inches. Each block measures about 23¾ inches square. Completed tablecloth measures about 73 x 97 inches.

BLOCK … Starting at center, ch 8, turn and make tr in 5th ch from hook and in each ch across. Work is now done in rounds. 1st rnd: Ch 7; in same place as last tr make tr, ch 7 and tr; ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr at base of turning ch, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, ch 3, tr in 4th ch, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next tr, ch 3, skip 3 ch, tr in next ch. 2nd rnd: Ch 4, 3 tr over bar of last tr, tr in base of same tr, * ch 3, tr in next tr, 3 tr over next ch, tr in 4th st of same ch, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, 3 tr over same ch, tr in next tr. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, tr in 4th st of ch-4 first made. 3rd rnd: Ch 4, 3 tr over bar of last tr, tr in next ch, * ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next tr, 3 tr in next sp, tr in next tr, ch 3, skip 3 tr, tr in next tr, 3 tr in corner sp, tr in 4th ch of same corner, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, 3 tr over corner ch, tr in next tr. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, tr in 4th st of ch-4 first made. 4th rnd: Ch 4, 3 tr over bar of tr made, tr in next ch, tr in next 4 tr. * (Ch 3, tr in next 5 tr) twice, 3 tr in corner ch, tr in 4th st of same ch, ch 7, tr in same place as last tr, 3 tr in same corner, tr in next 5 tr. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3, tr in 4th st of ch-4 first made. Starting with 5th rnd, follow chart until block is completed (the first sp of 5th rnd is indicated by an arrow on chart).

   Make 3 x 4 blocks and sew them together on wrong side with neat over-and-over stitches.

EDGING … 1st rnd: Attach thread to one tr, ch 4 and work tr in each tr and 3 tr in each sp all around, making 4 tr, ch 7 and 4 tr at corners. Join with sl st. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 4, tr in each tr around, making 4 tr, ch 7 and 4 tr in each corner. Fasten off.
