Measure 1½ inches in on each side from the corner point. Fold back and cut on diagonal line. 1st row: Attach White at beginning of diagonal line and s c closely along rolled edge of handkerchief. Join with sl st to 1st s c made. 2nd row of medallion: Ch 5 (to count as d c and ch-2), * skip 1 s c, d c in next s c, ch 2. Repeat from * along diagonal line, making 22 even sps in all. Ch 6, turn. 3rd row: Skip 1 sp and 1 d c, s c in next sp, * ch 6, skip 2 d c, s c in next sp. Repeat from * 9 more times, attaching last ch-6 in 3rd ch of ch-5 of previous row. Break off. Turn. 4th row: Attach Light Nile Green to 3rd ch of ch-6, * ch 3, 6 tr in next ch-6 loop, ch 3, s c in next loop. Repeat from * 4 more times. Break off, turn. 5th row: Attach White in ch-3 of previous row. * Ch 6, skip 6-tr group, s c in next ch-3, ch 6, s c in next ch-3. Repeat from * 3 more times. Edging. 2nd row:Attach White in 3rd s c from corner s c of cut-away corner, * 1 s c in each of next 3 s c, ch 4, skip 3 s c, 6 tr in next s c, ch 4, skip 3 s c. Repeat from * to medallion. 6 tr in 1st sp, ch 4, s c in loop over tr-group. Ch 4, and alternate 6-tr groups and s c, with ch-4 between, to end of medallion, so that work lies flat. Continue with pattern. Join with sl st to 1st s c made. Break off. 3rd row: Attach Light Nile Green to 2nd s c of 3-s c group. Ch 5, s c between 1st and 2nd tr, * ch 2, s c between next 2 d c. Repeat from * 3 more times. Ch 5, s c in 2nd s c of 3-s c group, ch 5, s c between 1st and 2nd tr of next tr-group. Repeat from * along edge. Join and break off.
