Materials:
Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercerized Cro­chet Size 50. 1 ball each of White, Color 15 Shaded Pink, Color 21 Shaded Green.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 9, 10, or 11.

Follow the diagram as a guide for the number of blocks and spaces to the row and for the color scheme, and refer to the instructions below for the changing of threads. Begin where indicated on the diagram with white thread. Ch 44, turn. 1st row: Make 1 d c in 8th ch from hook, * ch 2, skip 2 sts, 1 d c in next, repeat from * having 13 sps in row, ch 5, turn. 2nd row: D c in 1st d c, ch 2, and make 1 more row of sps, ch 5, turn. 3rd row: Make 8 sps, ch 2, then drop the white thread and attach the shaded green to the loop on the hook. With shaded green, * 1 d c in next d c, 2 d c in sp, repeat from * once, ch 2, 1 d c in next d c, 2 d c in sp, 1 d c in next d c, ch 10, turn. 4th row: 1 d c in 4th ch from hook, 1 d c in each of next 7 sts, ch 2, skip 2 d c, 1 d c in each of next 10 sts. Hold white thread along top of ch and work 2 d c using shaded green thread and working over white thread at the same time. Make 1 d c on next d c, using the white and shaded green threads together. Drop the shaded green thread and pick up the white. 8 sps, ch 5, turn. 5th row: With white thread make 7 sps, ch 2, pick up shaded green thread, 1 d c using both white and shaded green. Drop white thread, 12 d c in next 12 sts, ch 2, 9 d c, ch 6, turn. 6th row: 1 d c in 4th ch from hook and continue following diagram carrying the threads over from one row to the next. Where necessary, break the contrasting thread and fasten on again when needed. At the 9th row attach the shaded pink thread for the rose and continue.

Cut away corner of linen and whip the crocheted cor­ner into place, finishing outer edge of cloth with a row of s c (with white thread) placed closely together and a ch-3 picot every 10 s c.
