Make a chain 1½ times longer than length desired. 1st row: Dc in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * until 1st row is desired length, having a multiple of 9 plus 3 sps. Turn. 2nd row: Sl st in 1st sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, * ch 10, sk 1 sp, sc in next sp, turn. In ch-10 loop make (sc, h dc, dc, h dc) 4 times and sc. Ch 10, turn. Dc in dc of 2nd scallop, ch 7, dc in dc of next scallop. Ch 10, sc in original ch-10 loop, turn. Work 10 sc over next loop, 11 sc over center loop and 10 sc over last loop, sl st in original ch-10 loop. Ch 1, turn. Sc in 2 sc, ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook (p made), (sc in next 3 sc, p) 9 times; sc in last 2 sc. Then work (sc in next dc, sc in next sp) 7 times. Repeat from * until the sc's are worked over each of the 3 loops, sl st in original ch-10 loop. Ch 1, turn. Sc in 2 sc, p, sc in 3 sc, ch 1, sc in next to the last p on last-scallop, ch 1, sc in 1st ch-1 of this p, sc in next 3 sc on 2nd scallop and continue as for 1st scallop until all the sps have been worked over. Fasten off.
HEADING … With wrong side of 1st row facing, attach thread in 1st sp, ch 4, sk 2 sps, holding back the last loop of each tr on hook make 3 tr in next sp, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (3-tr cluster made), * ch 7, sk 1 sp, holding back the last loop of each dc on hook make 3 dc in next sp, complete cluster (3-dc cluster made), ch 7, sk 1 sp, 3-tr cluster in next sp, sk 4 sps, 3-tr cluster in next sp. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 4, sc in last sp. Fasten off.
