99 x 120 inches
Bedspread may be made all in one piece, or in 11 strips, each 9 x 120 inches, and sewn together.

Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 6.
13 yards of brown velvet ribbon, 2 inches wide.
GAUGE: 3 joint dc make 1 inch; 4 rows make 1½ inches.
Starting at bottom, make a chain 120 inches long for complete spread, or 15 inches for 9-inch strip. 1st row: Dc in 6th ch from hook, * ch 2, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in same place as last dc, skip 2 ch, dc in next ch, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint dc made). Repeat from * until row measures 99 inches for complete spread, or 9 inches for strip. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: Make a joint dc by making dc in first joint dc and in next joint dc, * ch 2, make a joint dc by making dc in same place as last dc and in next joint dc. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 2, dc in same place as last dc. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Skip first dc, dc in next joint dc, * ch 2, make a joint dc by making dc in same place as last dc and in next joint dc. Repeat from * across, ending with last dc of joint dc in 3rd ch of turning ch-5. Ch 5, turn. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until spread or strip measures 120 inches. Break off. Sew strips together.
BORDER ... 1st rnd: Sc closely around, making 3 sc in each corner. Join. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds: Sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of each corner, join. Break off at end of 4th rnd. Sew ribbon in place, mitering corners.
