Striped Bedroom Rug Pattern

This rug, which is worked in strips, can be made in any size desired. Four sizes are suggested below, with amounts required for each size.

Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).

MID-ROSE STRIP … Starting at narrow end, ch 29. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * dc in next 2 ch. sc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in first sc, * dc around bar of next dc 2 rows below (raised dc made), make raised dc around bar of next dc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until strip meas­ures length desired, ending with 2nd row. Break off.

BLUE STRIP … With a strand each of Crystal Blue and Robinette Metallic, ch 20. Work in pattern as for Mid-Rose Strip, having 12 raised dc on row.

WHITE STRIP … Ch 17 and work in pattern as for other strips, having 10 raised dc on row.

BROWN STRIP … Ch 8 and work in pattern, having 4 raised dc on row.

   Make necessary number of strips for width de­sired. Sew strips neatly together, alternating colors as follows: Rose, Blue, White and Brown, ending with a Rose strip.

FRINGE … Cut 4 strands of Rose, each 7 inches long. Double the strands to form a loop, insert hook in end st of first sc row and draw loop through. Draw loose ends through loop and pull up tightly. Make a fringe of corresponding color in each st at end of each row. Trim ends evenly. Complete fringe on other side to correspond. Block to measurements.
